With concern upon his face, a grave Ivar entered your shared chamber and shut the door behind him.

When his eyes fell upon you on the bed, his heart instantly sank. However, it had nothing to do with any guilt. Not in the least. In fact, he was relieved that his children wouldn't have to grow up around Lizzy's unstable presence. His only concern was your well-being.

Ivar didn't like seeing you in despair.

Naturally, he expected that you would be devastated by such news. After all, Lizzy was your only sibling. But since there was nothing he could say to ease the grieving process, Ivar could only hope that it didn't last for long.

Taking note of his presence, Jonah let go of your hand and got to his feet. Not wanting to disturb your slumber, he walked to your husband hoping to get a word. But before he could say anything, Ivar placed a hand upon his shoulder.

"I have been given the news." He said. "I know nothing can be said that will bring you comfort at the moment. But remember, there is no need to suffer alone. We are family. If you are in need of anything, anything at all, feel free to ask."

Cautiously, Jonah first thanked Ivar for his kind words. He then confessed that though he was still in shock, he did have one urgent request. To be given permission to bury Elizabeth as mandated by the Christian faith. With some timidity, Jonah added that her would would not rest otherwise.

As he anxiously awaited Ivar's reply, you sat up in the bed.

"You must say, yes." You insisted. Despite not feeling well, you were determined to make yourself heard. "Lizzy must be laid to rest properly."

Ivar's attention fell upon you, the visible tension in his jaw quite evident. There were many things that got under his skin. But none angered him more than being told what to do. The request had been put to him. But here you were, interjecting yourself without being invited to do so. Needless to say, he was not happy about it.

"Y/N, you are only going to upset yourself. Please, lay back down. I promise, we shall discuss it in a moment." Ivar replied calmly.

He then looked at Jonah again and invited him to reside at the estate

He then looked at Jonah again and invited him to reside at the estate. Adding that it was no time to be alone with only his son to keep him company.

"Are you certain, my Prince?"

"Of course. Besides, there are plenty of servants to care for Luke while you get your thoughts together." Ivar replied matter-of-factly.

"But what of Mother?" Jonah asked. It was no secret that there was an unspoken tension between Ivar and your mother. However, she did need to be informed that her child was deceased. "I do not meant to offend but she must be told before word gets around. Such news should come from family."
