"Sir! Pod 7-H is missing and Pod 9-D has hatched!" -Federation Scientist to Officer Michael

My eyes snapped open, violent flashes of light remaining in my eyes as shadow spots. Images of something like a dream quickly faded from my mind as I uncurled from a fetal position. I reached up to my face and pulled a mask off.

Where am I?

Glass poked at the heels of my palms as I pushed myself up to my knees.

Who am I?

I shivered as I slowly stood up, watching my breath cloud in front of my face. I slowly spun in a circle, gazing around the strange environment I was in. It was a chilly cave, black stone making it seem like you were walking on nothing in the semi-dark. I glanced at a large pod, seeing it lay on its side. The front of it was made of glass-which was shattered-and had soft blue lights going around the rim. A strange thick liquid pooled around my bare feet, probably from the pod. I started rubbing my arms when I realized that I wasn't wearing anything! Well, except boxer briefs. I shook my head and went back to examining the area.

Glowing blue fungus and moss illuminated the damp cave with a faint blue light. To my right was a river, tumbling and gurgling past. I clenched my fists from the cold when I felt something in my right hand. I held my open palm up for me to see, staring at a damaged medallion. For some reason, I got a familiar feeling when I rubbed my thumb over it. Like...coming back to an old house, almost. I perked up when from ahead came a loud crash. I glanced behind me looking at the pod for the last time, then put my hand on the stone wall and started padding my way towards the noise.

I turned a corner, paled at what I saw, then dove behind some crates. From the other side came a sort of clicking and chittering, as if there were dolphins walking around. I peered around the edge to get a look at these things. Tall, with insectile appendages. What I could only imagine was chitin covered their faces. Both of them had rifles on their backs. As soon as I looked, I knew that if they saw me, they'd kill me on sight. I planted my back against the crate, thinking. I didn't know for sure, but my gut told me that I needed to get past those things. I peered around the left side of the crate, seeing another pile of crates. They were about twenty feet away from me. I could get to them, but I'd need about ten to fifteen seconds of the two creatures not looking. I slid my hand back towards me, bumping a rock. I stared at the small pebble, then glanced to some machinery. A plan started formulating in my head as I picked up the pebble.

I aimed at some machinery at the far side of the room, closing one eye and staring between my pinched fingers. Three....two....one! I lobbed the pebble as far as I could. It tink-tinked against the metal, drawing the attention of the two aliens. While they walked over to take a look at what made the noise, I crouched-ran to the next pile of crates. Another pile of crates sat about twelve feet from this one. The door stood just behind it. I was about to run to it when a hiss sounded from behind me. There was a door directly behind the crates that I hadn't noticed. I slowly turned around and stared at four of the creatures in the eyes. The lead alien stared right back at me, small mouth hanging open like it was in the middle of a conversation. Then, with a loud and high-pitched scream, the four aliens let loose with their weird rifles.

My stomach dropped as I dive-rolled to the right. The alien weapons let out a bolt of very hot energy which melted through the thick metal floor. The guns made a sort of chick-zzt noise whenever they were fired. The other two aliens shrieked as if startled, stumbled the rifles in their hand-things, then sprinted towards me. I jumped over another bolt, then ducked under a third. I slid towards a metal pipe while also avoiding the fiery bolts of flaming death. I spun and lobbed the metal pipe towards one of the aliens. It clanged off of the lead alien's head, knocking it backward. It slammed into a second alien, both of which tumbled to the ground. I spun around and sprinted towards the door, arms pumping. Crapcrapcrapcrap, I thought wildly. I slammed my shoulder into the door, forcing it to explode open. It wasn't until later that I realized that the doors were made from three-inch stainless steel.
