She flinches when touched
She questions you
She bottles her feelings
Then she explodes
But you stay
Because you know
Someone hurt her
Someone lied to her
You also know
She is scared
Of love
Of happiness
Of everything
And she's tired
Oh so tired
Of life
Of being hurt
Of being left
Time and time again
But you
You won't break
You'll fix
Mend
Repair her despair
You will fix her
But then
You awake and realize
It is too late

She's gone
