I walked toward the big wooden doors with the golden plate say CONFERENCE ROOM, slightly pushing it forward, i entered as soon as i did my boss Mr. Mohair spotted me 'come come Mia' he said signaling me over, he was standing infront two well built tall men whose backs were turned to me.
I walked over to him and smiled politely at him, he smiled back and hand gestured to the men infront of us ' please let me introduce you to Mr. Edwards Jr and Snr , gentlemen this is Amelia Dixon' .
That's when i finally looked up at then and instantly i locked eyes with the most beautiful blue I've ever seen. We starred in each other until he spoke and extended his arm ' pleasure to meet you Ms. Dixon' , i shook his hand and did the same to his father 'likewise sir'.
'okay lets start this meeting' a girl I've never noticed before said, wrapping her arm around Mr. Edwards jr's ' ,i nodded slightly and walked to the front of room while everyone took their seats. I turned to the monitor, showing my PowerPoint presentation, made sure everyone was seated and with that i began.
during my presentation, i felt a strong gaze on me the entire time, i would catch those deep blue eyes from time to time but quickly i would look away. As i finished and was about to step away from the monitor, he stood and buttoned his jacket, I'm assuming he undid them during my presentation ' before you step down Ms. Dixon , i have a few questions'
i took a deep breath and said of course go on...he locked his gaze with mine again but this time it was a lot more intense, intimidating, threatening even, like he was challenging my intelligence, my position in this company, as well as the company's capabilities in itself but question after question, i answered as best as good with confident and he seemed pleased because his scowl slowly turned into smile.
He ended his interrogation with a nod and motioned for his dad and the woman he was with. i let out a sigh of relief as my heart finally went back in its place. 'Mr. Mohair thank you for having us and we will be in touch' Mr. Edwards snr said, shaking Mr. Mohair's hand , with a smile in my direction they left, his son didn't even glance back once though.
The rest of the day went by pretty smoothly, Mr. Mohair was in a grand mood all day which made our lives so much easier, he's that type of boss, if he's not happy no one's happy. Around 4;30 he called me in his office, i went in without knocking because his secretary said i could go straight in. To my surprise Mr. Edwards Jr was also there 'oh hi Mr. Edwards, Mr. Mohair you wanted to see me?' both men stood up to greet me 'yes Mia, good news , Mr. Edwards has just signed the contract thanks to you and we will be going out later to celebrate' he said with a huge smile on his face, he looked like a child on Christmas morning.
I smiled as well and congratulated him. He said he would text me the details and with that i dismissed myself out of his office. Not realizing i was being followed out though, I just heard a deep yet calming voice calling my name , I stopped and turned half way 'you know for a short woman, you walk very fast' he said , i turned towards him but i kept my head down 'is there something i can help you with , Mr. Edwards?'
'Actually there is, your boss told me , your off the clock now and i was wondering if you would like to join me for coffee before the party later '
'I'm sorry but i can't do that' i said trying not to insult him
'why not, think of it as a personal congratulation from me to you, i promise i wont interrogate you like earlier' i couldn't help but laugh at that ,which he smiled back'
he followed me to my deck so i could pack up my stuff and we headed out
