It is too late to confess that beautifully implausible reality to her. To prove her that she has stolen the heart of a person. Hot girls of all years in Cleveland high school are still vigorously plotting to steal his precious heart, just to find nothing. But, she did it. She did it with no strategy and no traces, just like a calm breeze. That girl, who strongly believes that she is unloved, now has no idea that she is loved and secretly fancied by one of the popular senior of her school. That senior, named Jefferson Humphrey has no clue on how this popularly bullied, clumsy girl with a lot of acne has mercilessly done that to him. To me!
I trot faster along the hallway to ease my brimming confusions. Managing to get some high-fives from the crossing people and nodding fast to their praises on my performance on yesterday's basketball match, I reach my locker just to find my girl near it. Daisy Butler, my heart stealer.
She's hastily scrubbing her locker door to remove a black spray paint mark, thus barely recognize me. I catch a glimpse to decipher that crooked writing. 'DAUGHTER OF DISGUST', it says.
Every inch of my body urges me to find Travis and beat him to death for doing this for the 5th time this year, despite my threats. But, I'm not gonna do that. It might remind her of her father who died in a cruel fight with his co-prisoner last year.
"Daisy, we need to talk", I say with complete desperation. Desperation to hug and kiss her that everything's gonna be okay. Desperation to stand near her for every happiness and sadness she faces in her life.
"No...Just leave me Jeff!", she steps away and runs towards the exit. I stare at her wavering ponytail quietly.
I RING THE DOORBELL REPEATEDLY LIKE THE PULSE OF A METRONOME, in hope to grab Daisy's attention. I know she'll hesitate to talk to me after what happened last week. My attempt to mingle Daisy with my friends at Travis's party became a perfect disaster, especially when Samara humiliated her. Then at school, Travis and Zach went busy on messing Daisy's locker in every possible way. Condoms, tampons, bubble gums, perversive graffiti, and even rotten fishes decorated her locker.
Above all, I saw the puckish sense of sadism inside my friends when they harassed and called her with names. When they called her as 'Pimply Butler' or 'Burnt Twat', all I did was staying silent. But I can't do that anymore. I want to be with her, no matter how immoral her parents were. No matter how her face looks.
All these tormenting thoughts vanish in a huff when the door opens. She's wearing a bulky nightdress and her hair is twisted in a messy bun and her face sans eyeglasses. Eyes...her eyes are terribly swollen due to her heavy night studies after her daily 4 hours shift in Stacy's.
Her tired eyes have deleted my entire speech training. "What happened to your left eye?", I throw a stupid question. "It's a heat bubble", she replies dryly as a beat passes. "What do you want Jefferson?", she's trying to be harsh, but it's not working.
"Will you go to prom with me? The Cleveland Senior prom?", I burst out, earning a powerful gasp from her. "What? Jeff, have you gone mad?", she reacts in shock as a result of my demanding promposal grenade.
"Yes! I've gone mad. Because of you, Daisy Butler! Will you go with me?".
"Jefferson, this is madness. You can't ask me!".
