Stinging feeling of a hand on his cheek brought him back to reality. He held his cheek since this had been the first time he was slapped by a man. It was a back hand and since he was wearing some rings it had cut into his cheek. Making a thin line of crimson blood fall into his hand. His light green eyes stared at the man.
"I am trying to protect you! " He yells with rage creeping into his eyes that were innocent before.
"You are only trying to protect your piggy bank. We hardly know each other. " He looks at his hand to see the ring that had cut him. It was a gift from him on his birthday. "If you want to stick your neck out. Make sure it is on someone else's dime. "
He took the ring off and threw it at the ground breaking it. He turned on his heels and left the young Jess sit on his knees in the living room. The marble floor cold against his bare legs. Jess picks up the broken ring and let a tear roll down his bloody cheek. He looked up to see the end of Michael's overcoat go through the front door with a slam. Jess stood up and went to the kitchen table. Placing down the piece of the ring and heading to his room. Once he was there he went for the bathroom to clean up his face. He looked himself in the mirror as he thought about why he was so worried.
"He is right. I am only protecting someone I don't know. " He blocked out all feelings he had for the man with all the money.
Jess patched up his cheek before walking out of the bathroom. He was staring at the bed he slept in and always dreamed of his goals, but now it looked like a cold bed. Jess got his suitcase out and started packing his things. Leaving out the gifts and clothing Michael had bought him. He stared at the only thing he couldn't give up. He threw everything else in his suitcase. He picked it up and walked to the front door. He then turned back and went to the broken ring. He set down the gift he couldn't give up and his key to the place. Jess took one last look at the small mansion before heading out the front door.
By the time the housekeeper came to the house. It was empty and dark. To her surprise she didn't hear Jess. Sue went to each room of the mansion and couldn't find him. She tried calling him, but no answer. It went straight to voicemail. She called up Michael and he answered after two rings.
"Mr. J, I came to take care of the house, but Mr. Willblock is not here. Is he by any chance with you? " Sue cared about Jess since they grew to become great friends.
"I am coming home now. Do not touch anything or go anywhere. " His voice seemed to be filled with anger.
"Yes Mr. J. " She ended the call and took a seat on the couch in the living room. She reached over and turned on a lamp so the room wouldn't look so dark.
