"Selena, what's it like to be fed on?" I asked as Selena did my makeup. "Like how does it feel? Without your horny thoughts, please." I rolled my eyes with the last bit.

Selena laughed as she continued with the eyeshadow. "I've been Rosita's blood bag for a while, Eve. It hurt at first, but the feeling is numb to me now. The first time it felt like getting my ears pierced..but on my neck. It hurt at first but it was the tiniest sting." She explained. "You're gonna look so good for that ball." She said, mostly to herself. She was way better at makeup than me, and would always do mine for any special occasion.

"Why do you like it so much?" I asked her. She stepped back and began to put the makeup away.

"No one else feeds on me but Rosita. I see a side of her no one else does when it happens. She's vulnerable and....and she lets herself be." She continued. "No ones ever fed on you before, have they?" She asked. I pursed my lips before shaking my head.

"But when the prince was in here with you..."

"He asked me to light his cigarette." I said. She moved from in front of me, and I could look at myself in the vanity mirror, as I adjusted my dress and pushed my hair behind my shoulders. "I don't know how you can stand to let her feed on you. You just let her...touch you and—"

"Yeah I let her. It's not like she forces me." Selena said in a snapping tone. I rolled my eyes and stood up from my seat, brushing out the wrinkles in my dress.

"She's a monster." I said back. "She's killed people. I mean, how can you even—"

"Shut up, Eve." She groaned. "You don't know what I know. You get to sleep in an actual bed every night and you're not on your hands and knees cleaning floors all day. So yeah, I do things with Rosita but it's not only an escape for me, but it stops her from killing me every time she decides she's thirsty." She said angrily.

"So, you have sex with her so she'll keep feeding on you? You're stronger than that, Selena. You don't need her. Or anyone else for that matter. You have yourself. She's a monster, and you're not going to change that. If push comes to shove, she'll only care about herself, she'd let you die if it came down to it."

"Rosita wouldn't let me die, she—"

"Rosita doesn't give a shit about you, Selena. She's been with plenty of girls and they're all dead now. Every year she picks a new girl to fuck over so what makes you think you're any different? Wake the hell up. This isn't who you are. You're better than this." I said before leaving the room.

"That's quite the argument you two were having." I jumped at the familiar voice and abruptly stopped myself from bumping into the figure that appeared before me. "Your dress is very gorgeous but, I don't appreciate you calling us monsters, we have feelings you know."

"What we argue about is none of your concern." I hissed as he walked along side me. "Jamison, why don't you go bother one of your mistresses? You have 8 so why bother me?" I asked him. His pace next to me stopped and he appeared in front of me once more.

"Didn't I tell you to address me properly, Evangeline Hastings?" He asked. I squinted my eyes at him, shaking my head. I hate him. I hate his very existence and the fact that I actually have to listen to him. "Evangeline, if you hate me so much why do you stay in the castle?" He asked. I forget just how much power vampires have.

"Did you really just ask me that?" I sneered. "You really are an incompetent asshole, aren't you?"

"Ah, ah, ah...watch how you speak to me Evangeline. I'm nice because I was told to be...speak to anyone else in this castle like that, and they'll have your head on a silver platter." He chuckled.

"Your threats don't scare me." I said to him, speeding up my pace.

"Then next time I'll just have to follow through, wont I?" He smirked.

"You wouldn't." I snapped, and suddenly, he was right there before me.

"Don't Test me, Evangeline." He said right after. "The only reason we can't kill you is because of your damn mother. Humans don't mean anything to me, so don't think for a second that I won't tear you apart or throw you with the invalids ou there. You think we're monsters? Wait until you see the real world."

"Prince James...Miss Evangeline." We both turned to see a servant standing in the hall. She bowed respectfully before continuing. "You're needed in the ballroom." She said before walking away.

Jamison held his arm out for me to hold. "Would you join me as my date to the ball?" He asked. I looked at him, is he serious? "Dead serious, Evangeline." He spoke.

"Mind reading is cheating, Prince Jamison. It takes the fun out of everything." I sighed, wrapping my arm around his.
