I sit at my desk staring blankly at my laptop screen. Finals was this week and I felt like I had gone insane. Did I fail? Did I pass? I didn't care anymore because I felt like my brain was about to fall from my skull. Finally standing up I glance across my room and plop onto the bed. Posters and crafts all over my intricately designed wall. Around the age of 12-14 I started my artsy phase, not really a phase because I still am up to any good craft. Anyways, I remember my 13th birthday my mom said I could paint my walls. Seriously, one of the most exciting things I can remember, I bought a rainbow of colors and painted perfect straight lines and you get the point. Trying not to think anymore I close my eyes and let out a long, deserved sigh. Just when I think I get a minute to rest my mom bursts through the door "Viv, honey, do you think I should...oh were you sleeping?" She asks. "No, just resting my eyes." I reply drowsily. "This will only take a second , red or white?" My mother asked quieter this time. She held up both dresses to her self and I instantly knew she would hate wearing the white. Don't question why but I feel being an artist also helps with fashion. "Red" I say instantly,"Where are you going anyway?" I ask slightly confused not remembering her ever saying something about plans. "Oh man, I spoiled it" She says with a sigh. "Spoiled what?" " Well were going to a family reunion!!" My mother kisses me on the head and says "get packed we leave in 2 hours".She leaves not saying a word more. Dumb-founded I pack some things together and jump in the shower. Really I'm not surprised my mom "surprised" me with a family reunion. My parents always think its best to go away from the house when we had a rough week or whatever. My little sister loves it, she packs every stuffed animal she owns even if my mom or dad says "Margret, were just going for 2 days" My older brother and I feel the same way about their so called "vacations" not excited but maybe we will be able to relax if were lucky. I step out of the shower and slip, no suprise there seeing im pretty clumsy. I change clothes and walk out the door to see my little sister dancing in just a diaper singing some gibberish she made up. I swoop her up and say "What are you doing goofnugget" She giggles and hops down then proceeds to run to her room. Being only 2 she laughs at everything and acts like shirts are the worst thing man could have invented. I pull my hair back and tell my mom I'll be back in 30 minutes. I dart out the front door and hop on my bike. Even with my hair pulled back I can still feel the blonde hairs flipping against my ear. Only like 5 minutes later I arrive at my friend Scarlets house. She is definetly the prettiest girl in our whole town. Her hair about the lentgh of her elbow is always braided to the side. Its a goregous shiny black and compliments her shiny jade green eyes. She has perfect cheekbones and small dimples that top the look off. She is definelty what every girl wants to look like. I hop off my bike and practically walk into the house. She looks up from her book and smiles at me " Hey Viv whats up?" "Not much just wanted to stop by before we leave for a family reunion" I say as I roll my eyes. "Hello, Vivan, you look lovely" I look up to see Scarlets mom, Mrs.Hante. I smile and say " Thank me, you look nice too." I then realize what I said and turn cherry red. She smiles and says "Nice to see you haven't changed" then left. I look at Scarlet to see her holding back a laugh. As soon as her mom left she explodes and cries "After 13 years and you're still so akward." I said "I know, I know, Were leaving real soon any books or movies you recommend?" She said "Get Death is Optional and Love Hit Me Hard." " Okay, any movies?" I ask. "Umm, take this" She said handing me a copy of "The Notebook" . "I still cant beleive you havent seen it. Anyways enjoy!" I hop on my bike and and place the movie in my bag. I start towards the librabry repeating the book titles over and over in my head. Hopefully, they have those books in stock. I then continue repeating them and hope I can be home in time.
