Chapter 3 Caught with a Con

A month passed where Kira walked each day to school and walked home, she hung out with Jack if he didn't disappear.

Miko had pushed and pushed to the point Kira broke down and became her friend, Raf always offered to help her with something if she needed it.

Jack and Kira though were out together looking for a job, Kira had mentioned that she wanted to try working like she used to.

"What kind of job did you have before coming here?" Jack asked.

".......a couple...one I worked weekends in a flower shop, the second was pet sitting, and I could stay at their homes when they were gone somewhere, it gave me a chance to stay away from father" Kira said.

"Ok....well....there's a few places hiring, I'll drop you off, I have to get to work myself" Jack said.

"Ok I'll come by when I'm done" Kira smiled.

(Two hours laters)

Kira dragged herself into the fast food joint where Jack was waiting for her, she sat at a table and sighed.

Jack frowned but grabbed a tray and filled it with two burgers medium fries and a drink taking it over to her.

"Hungry?" He asked placing it down.

"I don't have the money to pay for it rate now" Kira frowned.

"My treat...cmon eat up" Jack winked sitting on the other side of the table.

Kira shrugged her shoulders and unwrapped a burger taking a bite, slowly chewing and swallowing.

"Mm...that's good....makes me feel better for failing for two hours straight" Kira said taking another bite.

"Didn't find anything?" Jack asked sitting down again with his drink and fries.

"Ya....that shoe store seemed a little boring, and cramped...one store I saw I kinda liked wasn't hiring, the clothing store was filled with woman trying for the job, I wasn't about to work at a toy store, with all the screaming kids" Kira shivered.

"Heheh picky" Jack laughed.

"Shut it.....I went to a few other places that needed my diploma....the flower shop looked good though" Kira sighed.

"I'm sure something will come up, Hey maybe you can open your own shop" Jack said.

"How?" Kira asked.

"Easy, get the papers needed, open the shop up, fill it with whatever and sell them" Jack said.

"......ok, but where do I get the papers? And exactly what am I going to sell?" Kira pouted.

"Well you just said you liked the flower shop, so grow and sell flowers, even offer bouquets maybe seeds....even some small things like pots or gardening boxes hanging planters anything that grows.....maybe some stands made of steal to hang flowers on" Jack said as if he was a mastermind in business.

"...........Jack......THATS AMAZING I SHOULD TOTALLY DO THAT!, AND YOUR GOING TO HELP ME!" Kira beamed now finishing her meal.

"Wait what?! I have work here I can't do two jobs" Jack nearly choked on a fry.

"Oh sure you can, I did....we can be a weekend store...or two days a week and one day weekend...I don't know how that will work, I have to research what to do" Kira said grabbing her drink and rushing out.

"....um....what?" Jack blinked.

Kira had managed to find her friend and they left town to hang out, Kira was telling him all about what she was planning though he thought she could do something smaller and not so time consuming.

Kira pouted and sighed again, then she had an idea, it was easy enough and it was a job, so the two went into town.

(Newspaper place)

"Hi I'm Kira Darby, and I would like to apply for the job on delivering papers" Kira said.

"Have you ever done work where you go from neighbourhood to neighbourhood?" The man asked.

"A couple times when I was younger....I have a vehicle to help me" Kira said.

The man looked to see the man Kira was pointing to, Knockout gave a nod with a smirk to the man who shrugged.

"Alright jobs yours, come in every morning to deliver the papers, I have someone who already does the weekend run" the man said.

"Oh thank you, so so much, when do I start?" Kira asked.

"Next Monday, that's when my current guy stops working....you can start then" he said.

"Ok thank you again sir" Kira smiled.

Knockout and Kira got in Knockouts ALT mode and drove off, Kira was still smiling while they headed out of town again.

Knockout screeched to a halt when he saw the three Autobots who had the kids, Knockout mentally cursed and drove off road, making them follow him.

"Why are we driving this way for Knockout?" Kira asked.

"Oh a detour....SCRAP!" Knockout swerved to miss a tree but rolled down the hill that he didn't see holding Kira tight with the seatbelt.

He transformed and held the shaken girl in his servos when he heard the others coming, they transformed and saw Kira with Knockout.

"You kid napped a human! And Jacks Cousin no less!" Arcee yelled.

"Kira?!" Jack was surprised to see the girl there.

"I didn't kidnap anyone, she has my com frequency to call me" Knockout said.

"Is that true Kira?" Jack asked.

"........Ya it's true...I've know Knockout for a while ok...he's done nothing wrong here, you all have" Kira frowned.

"How So?!" Bulkhead asked.

"Let's see...chasing us off the highway, accusing someone of kidnaping when they didn't, like seriously, leave him alone" Kira said standing on his servo.

"When did you two meet?" Miko asked.

"I was hiding from father, he was drunk, I was scared, he was looking for me.....I was almost hit by Knockout, but he helped me, hid me until father left then he snuck me home" Kira frowned.

"He's kept what I have safe for me, like my photo album, my figurines, movies and DVD player which he is always welcome to use...he well has everything that I had with him, except my clothes and laptop and phone" she said.

"Why didn't you tell anyone this?" Jack asked.

".......For this reason, I knew all about the war, the Autobots, everything, he showed me pictures of the Autobots so I knew your guys cars were them...I just played dumb" Kira smiled sadly.

"....But....but" Jack frowned.

"Please don't be mad Jack, and don't worry about me, I'm well cared for up there...you'll always be my cousin and I'll always love you, but I don't belong with everyone else" Kira said with tears in her eyes.

Knockout ran towards a ground bridge that opened for him when he quietly commed for one, Arcee yelled for him to stop but he was gone, the bridge closed.

They all knew June would be mad, Optimus wouldn't be happy, and Ratchet would complain along with Fowler.

"Let's go guys...might as well tell Optimus" Bulkhead said.

"Why would Kira do this?....why would she hang out with a con?" Miko asked.

"....Knockout...he was that friend she'd always mention.." Jack mumbled.
