It was that dreaded time again. That time she hated with a passion. The one time, once a week, where she found herself wishing that her teacher's were not the orderly creatures they are.
It was time.. for assembly.
For Molly, who was very interested in the talks given on confidence, independence and the future etc., assemblies were the worst time of her entire existence. Seeing as the teachers here at Brambles School For Educated Ladies were very, very orderly, all the forms were to sit in alphabetical order and the forms members were also sat in alphabetical order. This meant that everyone sat in more or less the same place in each assembly. And for Molly, this meant she always sat in front of a group of girls who thought it was fun to torment her.
Biting down on her lower lip, Molly stares ahead as the girls in question file in to the seats behind her. She could hear them giggling already and instinctively presses her leg into the seat of her chair to ensure that it was there. That way she could never be embarrassed that way again.
She couldn't understand why they picked on her so much. They were all much prettier, much more sporty, more fashionable and they weren't exactly stupid either. She was just that quiet girl in the class that wanted to get on with her school work and make her way through life. That was no reason to hate her, was it?
As she always does, Molly lets out a sigh of relief when they're all told to sit and she finds that the chair beneath her was solid and very much there. She could never forget the way all heads in the room had turned to her as she blinked in shock and tried to register why her buttcheeks were throbbing in pain. All those laughing faces...
Molly would have shivered at the thought if it weren't for the fact that a hand suddenly wrapped around her ponytail and yanks her head backwards. A small yelp of pain leaves her lips but she doesn't comment or turn to look to see which one did it once her hair is released. Looks like it was time to cut her hair again.
She'd go into town this weekend and get it done with the weekly allowance her parents send her. Or maybe she could get Sherlock to do it, the future hairdresser in their group of friends. Sighing a little at the thought of home and her parents, Molly forces herself to refocus on the assembly.
The teachers were enforcing a new rule. Lights out or 'bed time' was being changed from 10pm to 9:30pm. This caused groans from all the students but Molly wasn't too fussed. None of her friends went to this school, seeing as they were all male and attended the Brambles School For Educated Gentleman down the road.
The thought of friends reminds Molly of the fact she was getting a room mate today. She'd had one for the first two years of school but the girl had moved to the States when her father got a new job. Now, someone new was coming to their school and Molly, being a prefect, had been asked to show her around as well as be her room mate. Molly wasn't sure if she was excited or scared to meet her new room mate.
All her thoughts on the subject are forgotten as her hair is roughly yanked again. Her cry is a little louder this time but only the girls either side of her notice. As usual, they don't seem to care and their eyes only stay on her for a second before return to the teacher stood at the front.
Her hair is yanked a number of times and her chair kicked twice as many through the course of the assembly. Molly allows herself a breath of relief once the teachers have dismissed the row behind her.
She had a free period next and was looking forward to relaxing for an hour before heading to her Maths lesson, which would be the last for the day. Then, seeing as it was Friday, she'd be off to meet the boys at their usual spot. She definitely needed this weekend. Her bullies had been extra aggressive of late and Molly's guess what that their cycles had lined up and they were all on their periods.
