I'm Bay, the 3rd child... These folks are my sisters & brothers. We're the black coals.

Our mama left us for some rich man, that only wanted her for sex & now she on drugs, & nowhere to be found. Daddy died in the streets, trying to protect us. It's been 10 years, since we've been without 'em... Our oldest Brother, Antonio, dropped out of school, so he could work & pay the bills around the house, so we could have somewhere to sleep, he's also the strongest out of the whole gang. Life has been a struggle, since Ant been getting drunk, & started robbing stores . I'm afraid, he'll get caught & end up in prison, if so, who'll take care of us. I don't want any of us to end up in a orphanage. That's my only fear. But I know we'll be fine, because the only person Ant would listen too, is me.

I smell breakfast, I bet it's Micah, whipping it up for the fam. She's the best cooker but if she don't like you she'll poison you, she could give you a pencil & once you touch it your on the floor. Then she'll laugh afterwards, if you start to slob. Me & Micah aren't really that close. We never really had a close relationship to were I can tell her how I feel. But I know she'll step behind be through the thick & thin.

After I ate, me & Lilly decided if we wanted to skip school today & go to our favorite theater, old town Cinema, across town. Around 3:00 pm, Antonio dropped us off. We went up to the door were we had to pay, Lilly played the cashier, & flirted with him & he's been into her since he was hired. That was my time to slide right in when he wasn't looking, & of course Lilly got in for free. She's the pretty girl out of the family, but gangster & ain't with the bullshit.

The movie was 2 hours long, I fell asleep around a hour & 30 minutes. All I could hear was cussing & arguing while I was sleeping. I woke up & looked around & saw Lilly snapping on some boys that was sitting behind us.
"what the fuck is going on!" I said.

"This boy keep kicking & putting his feet on my chair & I'm fed up with it, Bay!" Said Lilly.

"Chill the fuck out, I'll call my brothers on yo soft ass." I said.

"On I they, ain't gone do shit, don't nobody want problems, outta the Jinx's." Said the boy.

Me & my sister looked at each other & laughed. The black coals & the Jinx's, do not get along. But the black coals never had anything against the Jinx's we never knew why.
