CHAPTER 4: The Encounter

Max's POV:

For once in this whole situation I can say yes I am okay. I'm better then okay.

I just hope that after today both Layla and James leave me alone so we can easily go on with our lives.

I never hold a grudge but I will never talk to either of them again. They've lost that privilege.

"Yes I'm okay guys... actually I'm more than okay guys it's like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders"

I smiled like the Ronald McDonald clown and my friends are looking at me like I've lost my marbles.

"So wait the emergency was Max right?"

Franky says as she looks at Caleb and I swear I want to punch him for calling the meeting with my ex a GE.

But then again I'm very thankful my friends were here when this all went down. Especially Jess since he handled James better than expected.

"Um yes because Max here thinks she's going to skip this years splash and I wanted you guys to tell her how that is the dumbest idea she's ever had"

That is not what I said.

I should've known better then to tell Caleb anything.

"Are you joking?" Lilly drops her jaw.

"Why would you miss our last splash knowing I'm throwing it?" Jess looks at me as if I just killed his cat.

"Sounds pretty selfish to me." Fran says as he crosses his arms and leans back in his chair.

"Me too. Who's going to hold my hair back at the end of the night? And then cuddle with me?"

Oh now the twins agree on something.

I mean they're making good point's but what if I get so drunk I make a fool of myself.

I'd probably sleep with half the girls there. I mean I've already had my fair share of sleeping around so what's the harm I guess.

"Why are you smiling like the Joker Max?"

I look at Lilly with my "infamous smile" and I think it clicked because she looked at Jess aka her boyfriend immediately.

She grabs Jess's arm and quickly puts it over her shoulder. I don't think anyone else caught on.

But being that the interaction between us took a weird turn I looked at Caleb.

He was smiling so big that his smile lines turned pink. "I know that smile and omg guys Max is back in business. Wait so does this mean you've changed your mind?"

Oh damn I forgot Caleb knew about me and Lilly's hook ups before her and Jess started dating.

Maybe he didn't notice, maybe he just knows my look.

"Yes guys I'm going. I wouldn't miss Jessie George's extravagant turn to throw my last splash."

"Also Since the twins here think I'm selfish maybe I should bring Parker."

They all look at me probably remembering that Parker will be a freshman.

"Oh that's right it'll be his first one".  Jessie says and I just nod.

I think Parker would enjoy his first splash.

He'll probably invite all his friends and the more the merrier I suppose.

Now that I'm thinking about it I've never been to a party with my little bro.

Guess I'll have to make sure he doesn't get too drunk.
