"Stupid ... stupid ... stupid ..." Angel muttered to herself as she and Will sat beside each other at the creek.
"I told you that big mouth of yours would get you into trouble," Will said. "That's what happens when you eat too many berries."
"William, I'm not in the mood," Angel mumbled, knees hugged closely to her chest and her head buried between them.
"Did you make a list of the food?" Will asked.
"Right pocket." With that, Will reached into the right pocket of Angel's sweater and took out a list of food she had made.
"Pizza, pasta, cupcakes, ice cream, malasada?" Will stopped at the last one. "Do you know how to make malasada?"
"I can order some. The Alolan region delivers, I think." Angel lifted her head from her knees to Will in the eye.
"We can find a bakery or some place for some of these things, like the malasada and ice cream, but are you going to make everything else?"
"I don't have a choice," Angel kicked the dirt. "I don't have a choice about anything!"
Will patted her back. "You'll become a trainer, Angel. I'm sure of it."
"That makes one of us," Angel laid back onto the grass. "How am I going to convince her that I can be a trainer?"
"For one thing, you should do the job you and your stupid mouth yourself," Will said, sticking the list back into Angel's pocket. "It's a lot of work, I'll help you cook -"
"Thank you," Angel interrupted.
"You're welcome. Now you have to get that job done, from there ... I don't know."

"♫I'm gonna be the very best cook there ever was!♫" Angel sang as she made a test pizza for the party. "♫To not burn the oven is the only rule I have!!♫"
"That and don't waste the ingredients," Cavis said as he started to look through the cupboards. "Do we have any vegetables left?"
"A few. Why?" Angel asked as she rolled the pizza dough.
"Aunt Alice is feeling a little under the weather and Mom asked me to make some soup for her before she gets too sick to work the night shift," Cavis explained.
"Kirlia!" Cavis's partner exclaimed, holding up a bunch of vegetables with her Psychic.
"Wonderful! Thanks, Kirlia," Cavis said. "Have fun making that pizza."
"Yep," Angel replied as Cavis and Kirlia took off for Aunt Alice's house.
Angel beat the dough a few more times before looking at it with a smile. It was ready to be decorated with sauce, cheese, and vegetables.
But then there was a ring. It wasn't the home phone, it sounded like Cavis's phone. Angel looked around then saw Cavis's phone on the table. Angel picked up for him.
"Hello, you've reached Cavis's phone. Who might I be talking to?" Angel said.
"Emma. Who might I be talking to?" said the voice on the other end.
"Hi Emma! This is Angel, Cavis forgot his phone. Can I pass on a message?"
"I'll call later," Emma said. "But how are you? Excited for your birthday?"
"Not really," Angel admitted. "I have to make all the food and I don't think Mom will let me become a trainer."
"Aw, I'm sorry." Angel could hear Emma's frown. "At least you can still go on little journeys of your own around Vaniville Town, right? There's some woods nearby and the creek -"
"THAT'S IT!" Angel exclaimed. "I'll show them I can become a trainer by becoming one with the Pokemon!"
"You'll what?"
"Thank you Emma!" With that, angel hung up and began to quickly make the pizza. However, because of her rushing the pizza turned out messy and burnt. But Angel couldn't care less.

It's a hard thing to force a connection between a yet-to-be trainer and a Pokemon. Angel thought that, surely, if a Pokemon were to come running to her a connection would instantly be made! So she tried mimicking the calls of a Pokemon. Any Pokemon.
It should also be said now that Angel doesn't have the best singing voice. Nor is the greatest at impressions.
"Fletchling!" she cried with a screech. "GOOOOooogoat! Budew! FLA -"
"Stop!" a small voice cried. Angel stopped and turned to the small girl passing by her. "You're awful!"
Angel sighed. "I'm sorry, Piper."
"What were you doing?" Will's little sister asked.
"Trying to make a Pokemon connection," Angel sighed. "I don't know what to do, Piper."
"Making a Pokemon connection is easy, it just takes time," Piper said, picking up a pinecone she thought looked nice.
"That's not what I meant," Angel said with a sad sigh. "But I don't have a lot of time." Angel looked up to see that Piper had her attention drawn to a pile of tiny pinecones. That isn't to say that Piper wasn't listening.
"What did you mean then?" Piper asked.
Piper had a gift of multitasking. She could hold on a full conversation while picking berries and petting every Pokemon that past by her simultaneously.
"I don't know how to escape my fate!" Angel cried in a groan.
"The Nurse Joy thing?" Piper asked, stuffing her basket full of pinecones and clovers and flowers.
"Yeah." Angel huffed. "So what are you doing?"
"Getting decorations for the party," Piper answered. It was a perfectly fine answer, but it sadly reminded Angel that she had a lot of cooking to do for the party so she let out a loud groan. "Um ... sorry?"
"Sorry," Angel said with a shake of her head. "I just remembered that I have a lot of cooking to do for the party, that's all."
"Oh! Can I help with the preposition?!" Piper asked excitedly.
"I think you mean presentation," Angel said with a smile. Piper did have an eye for design.
"Yeah, that!" Piper nodded.
Angel laughed and ran her hand through her pink hair. "I can use all the help I can get at this point."
"Yay!" Piper exclaimed. Angel just smiled for a few moments.
"Hey, since you're helping me with the presentation on the food, why don't I help you with the decor," Angel suggested. "Maybe I'll make a Pokemon connection along the way."
"Okay!" Piper shoved her basket into Angel's hand and she made a dash over to a patch of flowers she saw.

"I think you'd make a great Nurse Joy, Angel," Piper said later as the two made their way over to the Windchester Farm.
"Please don't say that," Angel said.
"But I think you could be! You won't kill anyone and I think you'd save lives instead and you won't be bad at it at all!" Piper went on.
"Being bad at it is not what I'm worried about," Angel said.
"Oh ... then what are you worried about?"
Angel paused. "Hi Will!"
"Hey Angel!" Will waved from the back of Gogoat.
