Before I say anything else, this is dedicated to my awesome "big sister" Prussian blueuniverse. She writes awesome gerita and prucan stuff, and just fluff in general. I hope you like this Italy!

And I hope you guys like this ball of fluff that I created!

I don't own Hetalia, or Prucan would be canon.

Maddie walked down the hall, keeping her eyes trained on the floor.

"Why am I always so invisible?! No one can see me!" She thought, sniffling and rubbing her eye. That morning, she had thought it was going to be different. She had brushed her hair, put on her best "Canada" hoodie, and walked right into the meeting room like a lion, only to deflate like a balloon when no one even acknowledged her.

"Who're you?" Her little bear asked, and that was evidently the last straw.

Maddie started to run down the hallway and out into the rain, where she fumbled for her car keys as saltwater mixed with the sprinkles on her face.

"I can't let people see me cry... Well, if they see me at all," the girl reasoned.

Finally able to get inside her red slug bug, she put her bear in the passenger seat while she sat, staring out the window and racing raindrops.

Calming down after a moment, she relaxed and wiped her face with a tissue, "Well... I guess that was overreacting a little..." she admitted to herself, "but they have no right to just ignore me! I'm important too, right?"

Sniffling one last time, Maddie decided to try and go back home. Just as she was about to start the engine of her car, she heard an insistent rapping on her windshield.

Gilbert was staring down into Maddie's car questioningly. Why had she suddenly run off? He wanted to ask her something, but he assumed he was too slow. Still, it wouldn't do to have his cute little Birdie upset.

Maddie moved Kuma, opening the passenger door so Gilbert could crawl in.

The albino man wiped water out of his eyes, "What's eating you Birdie?"

Maddie suppressed a tiny laugh; she had no idea where the nickname related to her, but she reasoned it was because of Gilbert's pet chick, Gilbird. He once told her that since Gilbird was cute, and Maddie herself was cute, it was a "perfectly awesome match", and quote.

"Nobody noticed me. Again."

Even though they were both soaked to the bone, Gilbert pulled the soft spoken girl into a crushing hug, "I noticed you! Actually, I wanted to ask you something!"

Maddie was able to tilt her head up, glancing up at Gilbert's pale face from behind round glasses, "What is it?"

Gilbert's eyes opened, and he grinned, releasing the girl.

"You wanna go to a movie? I heard from Al that you wanted to see this one," his face turned a bit pink, but the grin stayed even as he was sure Maddie could hear the rhythmic thuds coming from his chest.

She smiled sweetly, "Yeah; I can come. When do you wanna go?"

Gilbert slung an arm over Maddie's shoulders, "How about now? No one will care that we're gone. Ha; we can do whatever we want while they're stuck in a meeting!"

"Sometimes it's good to be invisible, Birdie."

-

Maddie smiled; they had just had one of the best days of their lives, and her brother was still stuck making speeches and doing boring things that he would never be seen doing otherwise.

Gilbert cackled, "That was awesome Maddie! I didn't know you could beat a shooter game like that!"

They marched out of the arcade area, sipping sodas and still eating the gigantic tub of popcorn Gilbert called "necessary".

"I hunt on weekends," Maddie replied quietly, pink watercolour appearing on her cheeks.

Gilbert full-on laughed, sending weirded-out glances thrown their way, mainly because Gilbert's laugh sounded like an asphyxiating reptile.

"That's the best. Can you teach me sometime?" He put his arm around Maddie's shoulders as they sat on the edge of a fountain.

Maddie nodded, still chewing popcorn.

The pair sat there for a while, with Maddie leaning her head up against Gilbert's shoulder in a relaxed pose. Gilbert kept his arm around Maddie's waist, and eventually pulled out a coin.

"Hey Birdie; wanna make a wish?"

She nodded, and Gilbert readied the coin as they moved to see the water. Numerous other coins glinted from under a foot of water in the late-afternoon sun coming in from the theatre's high windows.

"Okay ... drei ... zwei..."

Maddie thought about what she wanted to wish for. Then it struck her.

"Ein!"

The copper penny skipped and dropped into the water with a plunk.

Gilbert turned towards Maddie, "So... what did you wish for, Mädchen?"

"That you wouldn't forget me."

Gilbert was genuinely shocked. How could she think he'd forget the most important thing to him other than Ludwig, Gilbird, and beer?!

His smile was full of sincerity, "Don't worry Birdie. I won't ever forget you."

He leaned down and pecked her on the cheek, earning another bloom of roses across both their faces.

Omake:

"Hey, Ludwig! You wanna go eat pasta at my house tonight?"

"No Italia; I have to look for Gilbert. Where did he run off to...?"

"And Ludwig?"

"Not now Feliciana."

"But-"

"..."

"Sorry..."

After twenty minutes, the little Italian returned.

"Italia, I-"

"I know, I know! I just wanted to tell you earlier that Miss Canada and Gilbert left a while ago."

"What?! Why didn't you tell me earlier?"

"I tried to! You wouldn't listen!"

"... oh. I am very sorry Italia. Is there a way I can make this up to you?"

"Hmm... you can come eat pasta with me!"

"Ja. I think I need some time to relax anyways..."
