The Boardwalk lighthouse.

It's not one of the more famous lighthouses that you see on calendars like Boracay Tower or Palawan tower.

That's probably because the Boardwalk lighthouse isn't very pretty. It's Blue. It's more of a light tower than a house.

If I had to describe it, I would say that it looks like a water tower with a big light at the top that just so happens to blink and keep cargo ships from running into the island. It's right on the water. There's also a nice little gift shop with a parking lot nearby.

It's pretty quiet during the off season and the lot is mainly used for the people of our town to park in at night so they can get lost on the beach. I had no idea why I was meeting Deanna there and I couldn't imagine what she wanted from me.

I parked my jeep next to her car that looked deserted. She wasn't there and I was not about to get lost on the beach looking for her.

Then I heard a tap on my window that scared the hell out of me.

"Jeez, Deanna you could have been a little more discrete." I said to her as she got into my car.

"That's not how I like to do things. Can you drive out there?" She said pointing to the ramp out onto the beach.

"No, with my luck there will be a ranger and we'll get caught." I said to her.

"Well, the only ranger that would be out here is my brother and I don't think he is going to write me a ticket" she said but I wasn't buying it. Her brother always made fun of me in school. "Just because he won't write a ticket for you doesn't mean he won't write one for me."

"You never struck me as a fearful person, Jessica." She said looking onto the ramp as if she was developing a new strategy but then the confidence came back as she looked me in the eyes. "Are you going to sit there and waste my time thinking of another excuse or are going to drive? We don't have all night and you don't seem like much of a morning person." She was right.

I put the car in drive and headed out onto the ramp. The beach is pretty lit up at night. The stars here are so bright that you can see everything. The lighthouse area is even more lit up.

I drove my car out and parked it as close as I could get it without touching the wet sand.

"The tide is going out, stop being paranoid."I said to her when she looked at me weird for getting so close. "Geez, you act like you haven't lived at the beach your entire life."

"Oh, I'm sorry. I don't take note of the tides before I leave the house" she said to me as she opened her door and walked towards the water. I got out of the jeep and started following her.

She was wearing jeans and her usual sweatshirt. This time it was a green one though and she had her bag with her, draped over her neck. Her hair was braided to the side and her bangs were blowing in the wind.

"Of all places, we had to come out to the beach tonight?" I practically yelled over the breaking waves. I was no were near dressed for this because I had on boxer shorts and a t-shirt. I was prepared to go home and fall straight in my bed.

I went back to my jeep and found a jacket, a towel, and blanket. "And this is why my jeep is always prepared for the beach" I mumbled to myself as I laid the towel out, sat down, and then wrapped myself up in a blanket.

I was so tired that I was almost certain that you could see the spots underneath my eyes. Playing the piano all afternoon really puts you to sleep at night.

After standing by the water for a few minutes she came back and sat on my towel with me. She took her bag off and set it in-between us. At that point, I was used to the beach air so I gave her the blanket and just kept my jacket on.
