Hannah's PTV
We were on the road, I was driving after much arguing from Jacob who was not happy about the driving situation. In fact he was complaining for the first half an hour, we were approaching Carson City where we were going to be staying the night. Jacob was looking out the window on the passenger side, I could tell that he was still mad about not being able to drive. Then he caught me looking at him.
"Eyes on the road." He exclaimed with seriousness lacing his voice.
"Sorry." I squeaked out.
"Hey how did you learn to kick ass like that." Jacob asked curiously
"Um well let's just say that my mom, before she died, she taught me how to fight in case it ever came to that. When she passed away I continued to train. I don't know why I think that I just wanted to make her proud."
Jacob looked at me like I was a puzzle he couldn't quite figure out. Then he decided to ask the question that I had been dreading.
"How did she die?" He asked cautiously as if I would freak out on him if he asked, but I didn't mind I love talking about her.
"She died protecting me from my dad. It was a late night, and he came home from work drunk as usual. I was five at the time.
Flashback
"Where did my little cookie monster go?" My mom asked playfully in front of the wardrobe I was hiding in.
I giggled silently as she began to walk away. Then she opened the doors, scooped me up in her arms and started to tickle me.
"Mommy, stop, tickling me." I said while laughing so hard that my sides began to hurt.
Then we heard the door slam open, I knew that it meant that daddy was home.
"Elizabeth," he screamed up the stairs, I could visiably see mommy wince something that had become more and more common now that daddy was staying out later.
"Yes dear." Mommy said with fear lining her voice, like she was expecting for the worst.
"Get your lazy ass down here and make dinner." Daddy never asked mommy to do anything nicely. He was always yelling and calling her bad names that she made me promise never to repeat.
"Coming." She yelled back down the stairs.
When me and mommy got down the stairs we found daddy laying on the coach with some of the funny smelling stuff in his hand, (Little Hannah is talking about beer).
"Elizabeth, why is dinner not ready yet, you're supposed to have dinner ready when I come home."
"John you came home half an hour early, how was I supposed to know."
"It's your job as my wife, to know when i'm coming home so that you can make dinner." He spit out the word wife as if it was a curse to be married to my mom. I knew that I was a curse in daddy's eyes, he had told me many times to keep my mouth shut, and to be invisible to everyone.
Me and mommy went into the kitchen to start dinner for daddy. He was yelling at the television while we were cooking spaghetti and meatballs for dinner. When we got done and set the table, daddy came in and started yelling at mom again. It was customery for me after helping mommy cook dinner to go up to my room until mom got me so that we could eat the leftovers. I waited for about five minutes before I heard a loud bang and then a thud.
I went downstairs to see daddy sitting on the couch watching the television while mommy was laying on the ground with red stuff surrounding her. I tried waking her up from her nap so that we could go and eat, but she wouldn't wake up.
"Daddy," I asked,"why isn't mommy waking up."
"She's dead you useless child." I couldn't believe it, mommy told me that she would always protect me from daddy when he got mad, but she didn't she left me alone with him.
Flashback Over
" I held a grudge against my mom for the longest time for leaving me alone with my sperm donor. That was until I learned her side of the story from my dad, I asked him one of the once in the moon nights when he wasn't drunk. And he told me that he shot her because she was getting in the way. He was trying to get to me because that was how he could get to my mom was through me. She put up a fight and he shot her, and buried the body in our backyard."
"Wow, i'm sorry that you had to go through that at such a young age." That was all that Jacob had to say about that story.
Hey guys sorry that I have been rocky on updating, once school starts again I will try to establish a better schedule.
