But You Disappeared

The song captures what you are feeling basically all of the story. Desperate and sad. I love this song. It's so beautiful.

I sigh, wiping tears off of my red face. I should've moved on.
It was just too hard.

My heart clamped on to them, forcing me not to let go.

I sweep my hand across the couch and choke on my laboured breath.

I turn and silently walk into the kitchen. I smile sadly as phantom images of memories play before me.

"Here you go kiddos." Their dad laughed as he handed us three ice cream bars.

"Thank you!!!" We shouted, speedwalking downstairs into the basement. (The room you always see in BestBois)

"Alright! Let's play!" I excitedly said as we set up D&D.

3 hours later

"We did it! We won!" I screamed, throwing my arms in the air.

"Yes!" Elijah yelled. We high fived and I looked at Ethan, the Dungeon Master, smirking.

"Shit," he grumbled. "I wanted you guys to get eaten or something.." he joked.

"Language!" we heard their parents yell from upstairs.

We all broke into fits of laughter.

I find myself in the basement, following memories of the three of us. I break down crying in the thought of how it was back then. When we were 13.

I punch the ground and clear my throat. Life sucks. It wasn't fair.

I force myself to go on, going up the stairs back to the main floor.

You have to go up there.

Tears blur my vision so I grab onto the rail of the second flight of stairs.

I drag myself up sniffling and shakily place my hand on one of the cold metal door handles.

I fling it open and my hands come to my lips as my most cherished memory in this room comes to life.

My forearms were gently held as Elijah and I sat on his bed. He looked at me, his eyes sparkling. His gaze flickering down to my lips for just a moment.

He lifted one of his hands and stroked my cheek lightly, sending shivers through my entire body.

I closed my eyes and leaned into his touch. When I opened them, he had the sweetest smile.

Like he had just witnessed a soldier coming home after the war to see their parents.

That's when I knew, I liked Elijah Peter Best.

Suddenly confidence flowed through my veins, and it seemed like it had in Elijah too, as we both leaned in at the same time.

His soft pink lips pressed into mine, our lips moving in sync.

I placed my hands on his shoulders and he cupped my cheeks.

It was the most magical moment. Until the door creaked.

We both automatically pulled away.

I covered my mouth as I saw Ethan standing in the doorway.

His eyes were brimmed with tears and his mouth was slightly parted.

He looked at Elijah and angrily shook his head. "You KNEW that I liked her. You KNEW!"

He turned around and ran out of the room. "E-than wait!" Elijah shouted, running after his twin.

"Ethan I'm sorry!" I heard in the distance.

My hands came up to my face as I sighed.

"I'm sorry Ethan." I cry, "I'm sorry I didn't know!" I shriek. That memory was bittersweet. Some of it good and some of it horrible.

At that time Ethan and Elijah were 17, while I was 16, my birthday only a few months away.

I'm sorry Ethan. I am so. So. Sorry...
