A/N: A little bit of a filler chapter but it's setting the scene for the performance so be patient! We learn a little bit more about Ro in this one so hope you enjoy!

Cas and I were in Julie's apartment, getting ready for the party tonight. I quickly ran over from Artists Prison after my shift, guitar in tow, and by the time I had pushed open the door to Julie's apartment, I looked like a breathless banshee.

We were now in hour two of getting ready for the party tonight. Cas was already decked out in a silk green camisole and light washed, ripped skinny jeans. Cas wasn't a heels girls, so she had slipped on her Adidas trainers to complete the look. She looked sporty and stunning, all at the same time. Julie had done some black and gold eyeliner to make Cas's eyes pop. Her blonde locks were cascading down her back, and with that, her look was complete.

Julie was now attempting to make me look less birdy nesty, and at least a little presentable. Lannie was laughing as Cas bobbed her up and down in her lap, while Julie began grilling me about last night. "So spill. What was happening last night?"

But before I could even begin to explain, Cas interrupted me, for the second time that day. Truly though, I was grateful. I didn't have it in me to relive any of the past few days, so Cas went about spewing my life story. I met Jules shortly after I lost my home, and with my family's death still fresh, I was the talk of the town.

People looked at me with pity and sorrow, it was unhelpful, but I guess it was their way of somehow coping too. So when I moved into the apartment unit across from her, she knew a little bit, but I never really told her about Ryder, because when we met, he was already gone.

But right then, I was thinking about something else. I was performing in less than an hour with Broken Windshields. Xander sent over the setlist a few hours ago and I knew all the songs, thank god for that. The performance was just covers of some indie-rock bands, none of their original songs for some reason. Something about wanting to be lowkey or something.

No way the fact that Broken Windshields was in town would be quiet for long, even in our small town, but it was worth the effort. Xander had also marked next to each song who was singing along with me, and thank god, Ryder's name wasn't next any of the songs. I really wouldn't have been able to sing with him. I was barely ready to be on the same stage as him...

"Ro!" Julie yelled breaking me out of my musing.

"Yeah sorry," I said shaking my head. "What's up?"

"Are you sure you're good for tonight?" she nervously asked looking at me through the mirror. "After everything, Cas just told me, there's a lot of history there..."

"I'll be fine. It's just a small performance, plus with Broken Windshields on stage, no one will even notice me," I tried to convince her, and maybe even myself. "Besides, I have Cas," I said giving her hand a squeeze, "if anything goes wrong."
