Hiding my Truth

"What the hell, Virgil??"
Remus stands in front of me, hands on his hips. Deceit stands on his left and Remy on his right. I stare at my lap, fidgeting.
"You know you can't interfere and go off like that," Remy says.
"What do you know?" I shoot. "You're not light or dark." Remy folds his arms. "You're just there."
"You sounded like a whole light side. You're not a light side. You know this. Don't even get me started on your room. You were assigned black. Dark. You. Are. A. Dark. Side. A. Nightmare. To. Thomas," Deceit scolds. I grit my teeth. I don't feel like a dark side. I don't think I was assigned right.
"Are you going to respond?" Remus asks. I bite my lip and swallow my thoughts.
"I'm sorry. It won't happen again. I promise," I murmur. Remus sighs and clicks his tongue at the others.
"C'mon. Some of us have jobs to do," he says, turning towards the door. I stare at the floor as they leave. Only after they leave do I get up and go to my record player. Slowly, I finger through my records and pull out an old My Chemical Romance album, placing it on the player and lowering the needle.
Loud music fills the room as I summon things just to throw them and break them. I'm a light side, honest.
"Can't believe them..." I mutter, throwing myself onto my bed. There's a loud knock on my door and I get up, going over to it and opening it. Once again, nobody's there. I look at the floor and find a little box. It's not wrapped, but there's a little blue bow on it. Slowly, I lean down and pick it up. Looking around, I quickly retreat into my room and sit on my bed with the box.
It can't be for me. It just can't be. Look at it. Who would leave me a gift? It was probably left here by accident. And a light side was meant to get it. I stand to put it back out in the hall when I notice the writing on it: Virgil. That means this was meant for me. But why? Slowly, I open it. It has to be a prank, right? I peer inside.
Inside is a string of lights. Fairy lights. Purple fairy lights. I smile as I pull them out. Attached to the battery pack is a note.
Virgil,
You don't need to hide your truth.
It's time to live your truth.
