Sometimes you don't realize the things you are going through until you have already gone through them. I had a tough childhood which was never a surprise to me but through it all he was there to keep me safe. Whenever the mean girls on the playground would pull my hair or push me to the ground he was there. He would walk right up to them and tell them, "You're just jealous because my best friend is more prettier than you." He would then hug me and walk me away from them. I remember the weird looks parents would give us when we were six walking down the street holding hands. We thought nothing of it. He was my best friend. When we were 8 and everyone told us we were going to end up married we made fake vomiting sounds and would talk about how gross the idea was. When middle school started things changed. My hero went through puberty and all the sudden all the girls wanted him. I suddenly had grown a chest and was the object of my male peers desires, but whenever unwanted affection would come onto me he was there to stop it. Soon middle school parties became the thing and we were invited to one. While playing spin the bottle we lost out first kisses to each other. It wasn't bad. I would've much rather lost my first kiss to him than any other boy. But soon our "childhood" was over.
