Jisung didn't think this was a good idea. Honestly, he thought it was the dumbest thing he's ever done. Walking down the street with barely any light at three in the morning is a stupid idea. But, he had to get this thing for his friend Chan. He doesn't even know what it is. He was only told to meet this guy, on this corner, at this time. It's not completely his fault anyway.
Chan is a scientist. Or studying to be one. He has his own personal lab that his parents saved up for him. He isn't crazy about his science. He still hangs out with his friends. Or rather, friend.
Jisung is Chan's only friend, except for some other random guy that he doesn't know. Jisung just happened to stumble upon Chan's lab at the wrong time. He drove up to the seemingly abandoned building, and waltzed right in. What he didn't know however, was that Chan just so happened to have twenty chickens running around his lab, while Chan was chasing them all down and failing to catch them. He didn't realize Jisung was there until he tried to lunge for a chicken, only to land at Jisung's feet. He looked up at Jisung, his white hair disheveled and crazy, with a smile that didn't look like any other. Jisung could never forget that day. It was the day he met his best friend.
Standing at this creepy corner was rather unsettling for Jisung. While thinking back on all the times Chan acted like a goofball was fun, he had to keep a lookout for some guy in a green tracksuit. Even with the weird outfit choice, it didn't make the current situation any less scary.
Jisung looked right and left before seeing the guy turn a corner and make a beeline towards him. Jisung wanted to jump and run away, but he couldn't. He promised Chan.
The guy stopped right in front of him and said some random gibberish.
"Red bird steals your bacon at midnight."
Jisung took a piece of paper out of his pocket and read the random words on the page;
"Blue fish gives my chicken in daylight."
The guy continued to look at him with a straight face, and Jisung gulped, thinking he said something wrong. The tracksuit guy reached into his pocket and handed Jisung a small metal box. Jisung stared at it, not understanding why Chan couldn't come get this tiny box himself before the guy started to speak again, startling him.
"It may look small, but I assure you, it's exactly what your looking for. Do NOT, under any circumstances open this box until you have a better form of protection. And I mean it," he ended with a snarl.
Jisung just nodded, throat suddenly feeling dry. The guy stared him right in the eyes, before jogging away. Jisung waited until he couldn't see the guy before turning to walk back to Chan's lab. Why in the hell did Chan send him to get this box? It's a tiny metal box for Christ sake.
Jisung looked at the top of the box before flipping it over and looking at the back. What damage could a tiny box possibly do? He just shrugged, before putting it in his backpack and continuing to walk.
Thirty or so minutes later, he made it back to Chan's lab. He knocked the secret code that Chan insisted on using, and the door was opened. Jisung walked through the endless rows of lab supplies and tools before going to the testing area, slipping on a mask before continuing through the door. You never know what Chan could be doing in this giant bubble he called a lab.
His lab literally looked like a bubble. When you walked in, you would walk through rows of equipment and supplies, before entering another room, that was a huge dome with windows in the ceiling.
Jisung walked through the second door, covering his face for a few seconds, making sure there were no projectiles, before walking towards Chan, and taking off his backpack.
"Whatcha doing?"
"Where's my box?"
"Nice to see you too."
Chan looked over and flashed Jisung his crazy grin, the grin that could make anyone smile. It always made Jisung smile. Chan stuck out his hand and Jisung reached into his backpack.
"Why is this so important anyway?" Jisung asked while handing Chan the box. Chan ignored him and handed Jisung a pair of his weird prototype glasses he's been working on for weeks. Chan put on his own pair before putting on gloves and placing the box on his lab table. Jisung pulled his own glasses over his head before Chan opened the box.
"In this box is a very special, and very expensive chemical that you can only get at one place. Human eyes can't look at it without a special type of lens or they will burn out of their sockets."
"And you decide to let me go on the street and get it from some random guy in a green tracksuit?!"
"You're not dead, are you?"
"No, but-"
"You really think I'd send you out there if I thought you'd open the box and kill yourself?"
"I guess not," Jisung mumbled," But why is it yellow?"
"It's yellow because of it's chemical compound. Its made up of chemicals that were mixed and them dumped because OTHER people couldn't figure out what to do with the damn thing."
"Well, is it a liquid or solid?"
"Liquid."
"Then why is it in a sphere?"
"Because there's a thin sheet around it so that it would spread throughout humanity and kill everyone before they dumped it. This sheet is almost like a code. If I can crack it, I will have the final component for my experiment."
"You mean Experiment Koala Bear Hugs?"
"Okay, just because I'm a scientist, doesn't mean I can't have fun naming my projects," Chan pouted and looked over at Jisung. Jisung could barely contain his laughter before looking at the sphere, only to see Chan picking it up.
"What the hell are you doing with that!?"
"What does it look like I'm doing?" Chan asked before walking towards a bigger metal container with a glass panel and glove slots. Chan put the ball of yellow light in the box. He shut and locked the box before taking off his glasses and putting them on the table, Jisung following suit.
"What even is this project anyway?" Jisung asked.
"This project is gonna change the world!" Chan replied while sitting and sliding on his rolling chair.
"Just think, all the money in the world and we can buy anything!" He continued.
"Well still, what is it?" Jisung asked.
"I'm gonna make a pill."
