A.N: Soooo... I'm back. Sorry for the time gap. For anyone who doesn't follow me but is at all curious why I was unable to write for months, there is an explanation story on my account. It's titled "My Explanation" and had a picture of my dog on the front of it cause my dog is my life. So, yeah, enjoy! :)

"So you're tellin me that your witness physically attacked Mr. Gerick this morning when he was only supposed to be there to tell Mr. Gerick that his daughter is dead?! Do you really expect me to over look that?!" Judge Hail hollered out into the face of the prosecuting attorney as he and his opponent talked in chambers of why Gerick wasn't able to be present.DeVroye tried to explain, "Mr. Castle was not there for the purpose of injuring Mr. Gerick. He was there to be a witness to ensure that Gerick received the information he was entitled to receive. Mr. Gerick, however, searched for a rise out of Detective Esposito and instead, in the wake of the morning's events and the new stress they placed on Mr. Castle, he found himself pinned to the floor by the writer. And I am in no way expecting you to overlook this, but I can't take Mr. Castle off the witness list and still give the full details of what he was shown. Also, there was no witness tampering or case endangerment and technically speaking, sir, this can not affect the trial outside the realm of medical allowances for the defendant. That is the way court rules are written."
"Yes, but never before has there been a case where the witnesses have had the ability to come in direct contact with the defendant," the defence attorney claimed.
The prosecutor laughed, "Well, you know that's not true. I will give you that few come to mind as the witnesses were able to physically harm the defendant, but direct contact happens constantly during cases brough up when the witness is a police officer. That's what our job is based around."
"Well, let me rephrase, victims never have direct contact with thier offender."
"You're still wrong."
"Doesn't matter," Jadge Hail overruled. "Mr. DeVroye, you are correct in saying that Mr. Gerick should not recieve any accomidations. However, I need you to prove to me that Mr. Castle's testimony is crusial to this case. Otherwise, I'm afraid I'm going to have to remove him from the witness list."
"Under what law?" DeVroye questioned.
"Under the authority of the court given to me by the state of New York. Now, if you have a problem with that, son, you can bring that up with the state's Supreme Court. Am I understood?"
DeVroye bit back on his argument. "Yes, sir. You're understood."
"Good," the judge responded, "Now, I will see the two of you in that court room come eight A.M tomorrow. Don't be late."
The prosecuting attorney sighed and agreed, leaving with his head hung low and heading out of the Judge's chambers. He then called Rick's cell phone to get in touch with hi. When he didn't answer, DeVroye went to his wife, who told him she'd just dropped her husband off at the loft. Apparently going to meet him there and give him something to do would be a great idea, so long as Maddie didn't have to hear the gruesome details. Yet, by the time the attorney was walking through the doors, he was hearing the familiar young girl's voice questioning, "Did you draw blood? Did it feel good? Did he cry? Did anyone get this on film?"
Alexis immediately apologized at the door. "Please excuse her. She's just played one too many versions of Call of Duty in the past few months."
"No problem," DeVroye stated, then catching Castle's attention. "So, Mr. Castle, do tell. How did it feel to belt a serial killer right into the mercy of the court."
Rick's mild enjoyment disappeared as he passed on responding to the question. "What can I help you with, Mr. DeVroye? Need another witness to bleed dry?"
