Dinner was over with and we were heading on out.
"I don't necessarily approve of you and my sister, but she looks better so I want to thank you for taking her in." Corey then turned his attention to me. "If he does anything you don't like call me. I'll have him dead within twenty four hours." I rolled my eyes.
"I can kill him myself." He smiled. We glanced at James who was unaffected by our conversation. I watched Corey walk away his figure got smaller and smaller. James reached out and pulled me into him. I snuggled into his warmth and in that moment. I felt complete, almost.

"I'm so glad James said yes to this party." Sandra shouted through the phone
"Really?" I asked.
"Mommy can you be quiet I'm trying to take read."
"Damn, even your own kid has to tell you to shut up. What ever happened to him meeting his father?"
"Well that came out of nowhere." Sandra said avoiding the topic.
"Sandra you have to tell his father."
"I know, I just need time."
"You've had plenty of years. But I'm gonna drop the subject. Just be at the house by three."
"Okay." She said before hanging up.
I was excited that James had let me have this party, he was inviting some of his friends, I was inviting mine. This was going to be great. I heard the ring of the doorbell then heard a voice.
"Tay it's me!" Keano yelled I smile and shuffled to open the door.
"Hey guys!" Sandra yelled coming in. She had a big bag of food with her. "Here some gifts."
"Oh come on everyone is in the kitchen." I said leading her to the kitchen.
"Okay everyone meet Lasandra, Lasandra meet James, Corey and-"
"Santiago." She glared.
"Lassandra, you aged well."
"Auntie Tay, your game room is huge!" Keano said coming in. Santiago stared at him. Lasandra sighed.
"I think the meat is burning. I'm gonna go-" Corey said exiting, James said nothing and followed after him.
I caught on quickly after that. Damn, Keano looked so much like his father you wouldn't need a DNA test.
"How old is he?"
"Four." She mumbled.
"When were you going to tell me?"
"When you were on your death bed." She spat
And I oop- time for me to leave
"Come on Keano, lets go play."
Lassandra
"That's still the same you, hidin' shit, you know I looked for you. You were no where to be found." I watched as his muscles flexed in anger. Yep, still the same Santiago I fell in love with.
"That's just how it is."
"You leave and you take my kid away from me."
"Your profession isn't one I want my child to grow up around."
"Aye, Mi amor, I'm way past all of that now. I was a boy then, I'm a man now." I scoffed and rolled my eyes.
"Yeah whatever Santiago."
"You raised him on your own?"
"Yes, with the help of Tanya."
"How did you get the money?" I gulped, Santiago was extremely territorial, however I wasn't his property.
"I worked at a strip club." I felt his aura change. No point in lying.
"You could have called me if you needed money, you know I would've done anything for you."
"That's the problem, we were kids having kids. You could claim to do anything for me then leave me on the streets. I was not having that."
"When have I ever betrayed you? What do you do now?" He asked.
"I'm in the process of building a cosmetic company." I whispered.
"Porque Mi amor? Why do you have to be so independent? Why did you have to be selfish?"
"I wasn't being selfish I was looking out for the life of my child."
"Happy children typically have both parents in their life, did you even consider that I would want to be in my child's life?" I actually hadn't. "That's your problem mi amor. You don't think, you just immediately go into defense mode and run away. I am done chasing you. Now that you're here, I'm not letting you leave my sight and I will be apart of my child's life."
"What if I don't want you to be?"
"Then I'll take legal action. I don't think CPS will like hearing how a child's mother was a stripper." I sent the meanest glare I could at him before walking up to him and delivering a hard slap.
"Don't you ever threaten to take my child away from me! See I knew you would do this. This is why I ran. You love to go to the extremes to get what you want. It's not always about you." He chuckled.
"Two selfish people in love." He muttered tugging my chin so I could look at him.
"I'm not in love with you Santiago." I said fighting back the tears that were threatening to fall.
"I can see it in you eyes mi amor, I felt it in the way you slapped me. You still love me, and I'm still madly in love with you."
Tanya
We all sat around the table. The tension was very thick.
"So how is the food?" I asked everyone. Everyone mumbled answers.
"This is awkward. Let's just pretend like nothing happened, for the sake of this party." Everyone nodded.
"So how long have you two been together?" Santiago asked.
"Two months." James said.
"We're not together." I said, we looked at each other and I rolled my eyes.
"We're not together, he hasn't asked." He raised an eyebrow but decided to move to another topic. Suddenly there was a knock on the door that broke the eeriness in the room.
"Did you invite someone else?" I asked James he shook his head and in sync all three men pulled out guns, Keano slapped his hands over his eyes.
"You guys are fucking ridiculous, in front of the kid? Really? I'll get the fucking door." I rolled my eyes and got up to check who is was. It was a woman standing outside, she didn't look in good condition.
"Hi, how can I help you?" I asked opening the door just a bit.
"I-I was sent here to give a message to James." I raised an eyebrow.
"What is it?" Suddenly her eyes rolled back in her head and she passed out. I gasped and the door was shut before I could retrieve her.
"What are you doing?" I asked James, he was on the phone angrily speaking to whoever was on the line.
"Don't open that door."
"We can't just leave her!" I exclaimed.
"We can and we will Tanya." I reached for the doorknob. "If you open it there will be consequences." I rolled my eyes.
"Fuck your consequences there's a girl dying on our doorstep and you don't want to help her? You have lost your goddamn mind." I opened the door and pulled the girl up, just then a black Cadillac rolled past their guns peaking through the window. A drive by. All I could hear where guns shooting. They were aimed towards me.
