Rafael's POV

After hanging out with my buddies for a while, I decide to search for Hope. After all, she's the one I wanted to come here with. I see Lizzie by the drinks table, so I decide to ask her where Josie is; Josie is rarely ever far from Lizzie, and Hope and Josie have become such good friends lately that I'm sure they'll be together. As it turns out, I was right. "Her and Hope went off into the woods a while ago," Lizzie shrugs. "I think they went somewhere to talk. They should be back soon, though."

I debate sticking around and waiting for them to get back, but I really want to have my own talk with the tribrid, so I set out to find them. It doesn't take long, really. They're just by the lake. I smelled them before I saw them, actually - werewolf senses come in handy sometimes. I just followed Hope's vanilla scent and Josie's lavender scent all the way to the lake where I find them sitting side-by-side.

When I first arrive, they are talking to each other, oblivious to the world around them. If they were paying any attention at all, Hope would have noticed another werewolf nearby. I pick up on the fact that they are sitting so close that they are touching, but I ignore it; it's cold out, of course they'd keep close for warmth. So I leave the shelter of the forest, starting to walk closer. I still can't hear their words, but I'm close enough to make out their features.

But I stop in my tracks when I see Josie lean forward a bit, her face getting even closer to Hope's. Then, the tribrid does the same. Her nose rubs against the brunette's, both of their eyes closing, then they kiss. They kiss. I stand there stunned for a moment, unable to make sense of what is happening in front of me. My two best friends - one of which is my crush - are kissing. When that fact fully sinks in, I can't catch the words before they leave my lips: "What the fuck?"

They jump apart at the sound of my voice, both of them whipping around to face me. "Raf..." Josie trails off, looking guilty. She should; she knows how I feel about Hope.

"What the fuck?" I repeat, more intensely this time.

"Dude, chill," Hope sighs. "It's the 21st century, girls can like girls."

"Hope," Josie chastises, sending the tribrid a quick glance before turning her attention back to me.

"What?" the other girl counters. "It's true."

"What is going on?" I demand answers.

The girls share an unsure look, and that's the cherry on top. I can't wrap my head around this, so I choose to ignore it. I just go back to the party and rejoin my friends, pretending like I didn't just see my best friend - who is the only one to know about my feelings - kissing my crush.

After a while, the two come back to party. They act as if nothing has happened, bouncing around from clique to clique, socializing with everyone, but they are joined at the hip. They never leave each other's sides all night, and I pick up on that. Even when they aren't around anyone else, they're together, sharing longing glances and stealing lingering touches, always close, always flirty. I try to ignore them, but when I find that I can't, I end up just leaving the party. They are too absorbed in each other to notice.

Soooooooo.......... a whole chapter in Rafael's POV. This is the only time I stray from Hope or Josie's POV in the whole story so enjoy 😂😂 it's kinda short bc it was hard to make it long since it was kind of only one scene lmao

OH and pretend Landon is Josie in the pic I used
