The Ice Cube
"Alli how much longer?" My sister Anni asked.
"I don't know Anni," I said, seeing from the expression on her face that even twenty year olds can be scared. Twenty-three year olds too because, I'm scared too, walking through this dirty-water-wasteland full of swirly straws and uncanny umbrellas.
We continue walking, and I continue thinking. What am I doing? What are we doing here? Where are we? This, this place it- there's something familiar about it.
After what seems like a million hours I stop.
"Anni stop, it's time to take a break," I say, exhausted even if it was just twenty minutes. We stand and relax for a bit. All of a sudden we feel a type of earthquake shaking around us.
"Wha-what's going on Alli?" Anni asked her voice shaking as she waves her arms around attempting to keep her balance.
"I don't know but slowly walk over here and hold on," I answer as I extend my hand. We feel ourselves being lifted up and we see the face of a young woman opening her mouth and bringing the glass to her lips, we're in a glass of soda or something, "Anni turn around and run, now!"
I turn and run as she holds onto my hand and we run, as we feel the cool "ground" slip under our feet we stop and feel ourselves being pulled back and our feet barely touch the surface of the ice cube.
The "floor" stops shaking and all is fine. The glass is brought down onto I think a table.
"Anni, you are going to do exactly as I say so you understand?" I say, calmly even though I'm not calm at all.
"Yes."
"Keep running," I grit through clenched teeth. She does, she runs and runs and runs and runs and runs behind me.
"Left now!" I yell as the "floor" begins to slip. She jumps to her left and lands on the ice cube. We run for a while on that ice cube. I feel it begin to slip beneath my toes.
"Jump forward!" I exclaim, Anni does but she just misses the ice cube, her body colliding with the brown liquid.
"Alli help!!!" She cries out, I turn around and race back to the edge. I reach my arm out to her.
"Swim here!! It's only a little bit Anni, I'm right here!" I shout to her, knowing she would be scared. I extend my arm out as far as I can.
She begins swimming toward me, mid stride the glass is being lifted again. She swims harder and harder, but it's no use against the current she being sucked into. She swims harder and harder, and finally gives up.
My ice cube slides towards her but I know it's too late, I turn my head as I hear a -clink- and a -crack- as the ice cube crushes her. I turn back just to see her sinking down.
I quickly grab her arm and pull her onto the ice cube and lay her out. The ice cube is beginning to stain red, blood red. I look at her head, where her skull must have been destroyed. At her ribs, where her bones where crushed. And at her torso, where she must have froze internally.
Ugh, enough, why do I put myself through this anyway? I look at her body one more time, her yellow tracksuit gleaming in the light. Stop!
I look in front of me and face what's in front of me. The cup is set down again and I regain my balance. I look back at Anni's dead body, and decide to leave it. I run forward, jump, left, right, back, straight, forward, jump, etc for a long time.
I reach the glass wall that builds the cup the cup, it goes up for maybe twelve feet. I run back as I see and feel the cup being lifted again. I grab the biggest umbrella I can see and jump onto the middle of it and take it out off the ice cube.
I stand and hold the center as it goes up the stream and I see the woman's mouth once again. I'm in the straight pathway to her mouth so I move over to my left. The soda begins to slosh down towards the middle and so I push my hardest to glide up and out of the glass.
I lean and push forward with all my strength. I'm almost to the top and when I get about a foot or so away I jump of the spinning umbrella and grasp with my tiny fingers onto the edge of the glass. I pull my self up and over and stand on the rim victorious, even though my sister died here.
A small thought comes to my head... why am I so small?

"Ugh what was that?!" I exclaimed as I shot up from underneath my warm covers.
"Was that really just a dream?" I think, I stand and walk to Anni's room. There she is, lying silently and peacefully.
