Workin On You

Chapter 2

Dustin's POV

I was in Vancouver for a few shows off the VHS tour. I was waiting to do a set for my birthday when I saw a text from Hailee pop up. We'd been dating for about a year now and she'd moved in about a month ago. "Hey baby! Happy birthday! I honestly hope you're having a great day. I love you, cowboy." I smiled as I read it, she really was the sweetest girl ever. I'd never been with someone like Hailee. She was different from the others, in the best way possible. "Thank you, angel, I love you too. I miss you so much, I'm doing my best to have a good day, kinda hard without you here." I texted back, smiling. I smiled then put my phone back into my pocket when they came and got me for my set. "Let's give it up for the birthday boy! This is his first time in Vancouver, let's give him a warm welcome!" I heard a familiar voice say as I walked out to the little stage. I smiled the minute I saw Hailee. "Happy birthday, honey." She whispered as she hugged me. I smiled and kissed her cheek, "Thank you, sweetheart." She smiled as she slowly stepped back and let me take the stage. I sat down with my guitarist, Chris LaCorte and began to play 'Small Town Boy', looking at Hailee the entire time. I did a few more songs, 'Cowboys & Angels', 'Seein Red' & 'Your Daddy's Boots' then I answered a few questions from the little audience before heading back to my dressing room with Hailee. "Did you like your surprise?" Hailee said as we got into the room. I didn't say anything, I just smiled & kissed her passionately. "Yeah, I did. How long do you have to stay?" I asked as she sat on my lap. "I'm here for as long as you want me to be. I thought I'd come out on the road with you if that's okay." I nodded and smiled, "Of course that's okay, sweetheart. I'd love it." I said, resting my hand on her upper thigh. We sat like this for about an hour, she'd drifted off to sleep and she looked so peaceful. 

An hour later.....

Hailee's POV

I woke up and looked for Dustin. My question was answered when I saw him walk out of the bathroom in a pair of jeans, his boots and a white button down shirt. I smiled at him, "Hey handsome, what's the occasion? Other than your birthday?" He smiled as he walked over and kissed me, holding up a fire engine red skin tight dress. "Just because, I wanted to show you off, if that's alright with you." He said, kissing me again. I kissed him back and took the dress from his fingertips, walking into the bathroom. I stepped out in the dress and some red heels. "Wow, you look incredible, honey." I smiled as I walked over to him and swung my hips a little to tease him. He smirked and kissed me again as he let his hands rest on my hips. "Such a little tease. You ready to head out?" He asked, licking his lips as he looked me up & down. I nodded and took ahold of his bicep as we walked out of the room. 

"So, what else would you like for your birthday?" I asked, looking at him as I sipped on my water. I wasn't 21 yet but, that didn't stop him from sneaking me drinks of his whiskey. I smiled as I sipped once more and he looked at me. "I've already got everything I could ever want right here." He said as he grabbed my hand across the table and rubbed the back of it with his thumb. I smiled at him. I didn't know I'd gotten so lucky. "Ok, I'm gonna go grab the check, you wait here. I've got a surprise for you once we leave here." I nodded as he got up but, kissed me before he left the table. I waited for Dustin to come back as a guy came up to me. "Hey beautiful, how're you tonight?" The guy looked from me to Dustin, who'd come back as soon as the guy had come up to me, so, he basically saw the entire conversation. "She's just fine, man. Move on." Dustin said, a little sternly. It honestly turned me on seeing him so jealous. "My bad, I didn't notice she already had somebody. Doesn't surprise me though, she's gorgeous." The guy got up and went back to his friends and the minute he did, Dustin gently pulled me up and kissed me passionately. I knew it mainly had to do with that guy hitting on me but, I didn't care, I fell into the kiss. I let my hands make their way up to the back of his neck and my body lean into him more. The guy that had just hit on me just stared and looked me up and down. We walked out to Dustin's rental truck and he drove to a small little lake about 30 minutes away from the restaurant. He had a boat already anchored out in the middle with some fairy lights strung across the top. "Oh, baby, this is beautiful! What's all this for? Aren't we supposed to be celebrating you, not me?" I asked, looking over at him. "Of course we are, we're just celebrating the both of us with this." He said, slipping his hands around my hips from behind and kissing my neck. I slightly moaned, letting my hand rest on his neck. "Why don't we take this little party to the boat?" He asked, mumbling into my neck. I nodded in response as I slipped my heels off and grabbed onto his shoulders to steady myself as he sat onto the jet ski and rode over to the boat. He offered me his hand as he got onto the boat to help me up. As I stepped on, he got on one knee and smiled nervously. "Hailee, from the minute I met you, I knew you were the one. The age difference doesn't mean a damn thing to me, I want you because of who you are on the inside, not because you're famous, not because of your money but, because of who you are as a person, the way you love my mom as if she were your own, the way you connect with my dad & sister on another level is just incredible to me. I love you for everything you are. Will you marry me?" I teared up and smiled, nodding. "YES, A THOUSAND TIMES, YES!!!!!!" He smiled and slipped the ring on my finger as he kissed me. "I'm really glad you said yes. I don't know what I would've done had you said no." He said, laughing a little into the kiss. "There's no way in hell I would've said no, honey. I'd be crazy not to." I said, kissing him as I sat on his lap. He let his hands rest on my hips as mine rested on both sides of his neck. We'd had sex plenty of times, but, something told me that this time would be extra special.
