Dustin's POV
I walked into the house and was greeted with a hug & a kiss by Hailee. I smiled, kissing her back and tossing my bags down onto the floor, holding her with one arm. "What's all this for?" I asked, looking at her. She smiled at me, "No reason, I just thought it'd be nice." I smiled again, taking my bags to the mud room and tossing my clothes into the washer then walked into the living room. Hailee wasn't anywhere to be found so, I just sat on the couch, thinking she was up in the bedroom, changing or something. I did a double take at the coffee table, I hadn't noticed it until now that it had 5 positive pregnancy tests on it. "HAILEE!?" I yelled, excitement laced in my voice. "Yeah? Oh, you found them!" She said, looking at me, smiling. "How? When?" I asked, looking at her frame. She didn't look any bigger so, it couldn't of been too long ago. "The week you were home, the night we killed a bottle of Jack & Dickel." I smiled, walked over to her and kissed her. "This is the best news I've gotten all week." She kissed me back and let her hands rest on the back of my upper neck. "I love you, so much. I still can't believe this is happening." I said, resting my hands on her hips. She smiled as she walked over to the couch and sat down. "So, how far along are you?" She looked over at me, "I'm about a month in, I got it confirmed a few days ago. I was just throwing up but, I did have a fever so, I just thought I was sick. But, turns out, I'm just pregnant." I smiled and rested a hand on her non-existent belly. "I still can't believe it actually worked, we're actually having a baby." She smiled as she leaned her head on my shoulder, "Yeah, we are. I honestly hope its a boy first, I can't wait to see what he'll look like." I smiled and nodded in agreement. She leaned up and kissed me, smiling. I kissed her back softly before standing up. "I'm gonna toss my clothes in the dryer and get a shower. Have you had dinner yet? I can make something if you'd like." She nodded and said she already had dinner so, I just made myself something and went to the bedroom with Hailee afterwards. She laid back in bed and leaned against my chest, sighing softly. I looked down at her and rested my hand on her lower back, rubbing my thumb over her spine. I smiled as she fell asleep against my chest, "Good night, angel." She started to snore slightly and I laughed silently, not wanting to wake her up.
I gently moved my arm out from behind her head and got out of bed to see what the noise was downstairs. It was just the wind outside so, I went back upstairs and laid back down next to Hailee, slipping my t shirt back off and tossing it onto the floor, not really caring that I'd get an earful tomorrow morning about it. I could feel Hailee tossing and turning at 2 am, and I gently shook her to wake her up. "Hey babygirl, what's wrong? You're tossing a lot. What is it?" I asked, looking at her. She slowly woke up and backed herself into the headboard as much as she could, as if she were trying to melt into it. Her eyes got wide and she held a death grip on my hand. "C-Cameron." is all she said and watched from me to the closet. "Honey, he's not here. He hasn't been around for 3 years. It was just a dream." I pulled her close to me again and kissed her forehead as I rubbed her back. "Why don't you come out on the road with me? That way I know you & the little one are safe and taken care of. I don't want you under any stress." Hailee nodded and pulled me into a hug, tearing up. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't of freaked out like that." I pulled away from the hug long enough to hold her face in my hands, "Don't ever apologize for that. Ever. If you need to fall and break apart, I'm right here. Don't do that to yourself, angel. Its not healthy. You don't ever need to apologize for your feelings, they're just as valid as someone else's." She held onto my biceps as she nodded and leaned against my chest as I leaned back onto the pillows behind us.
I woke up a few hours later at 6 am, let the dogs out then started on breakfast as Hailee came down the stairs. "Hey mama, how're you feeling?" I asked, looking at her as she just leaned against me and buried her head into my neck. I smiled and kissed her hair, she must've been exhausted.
