Finally the lunch bell rings and we can get out of this hell hole. I hate school passionately. It just tests how well you can memorize things. Stress. School tests how much stress you can take before you burst. And it's only the first day.

Me and Jessie, who's been my best friend since kindergarten, make our way to the cafeteria. Seniors are allowed to go off campus for lunch, but since its the first day we decided to stay. "I can't believe we're seniors!" Jessie exclaims as we stand in line for our food. "Just think- next year... COLLEGE!!" She says a little too loud. The people around us turn to see what's going on, but then soon turn back around realizing its nothing exciting.

"Shush Jessie everyone can hear you," I say holding back a chuckle. "WHO CARES?? WE'RE SENIORS! WE'RE THE COOL KIDS NOW!" Now everyone within twenty feet turns to look at us. Most just smile and turn away, understanding the excitement. Some of the other seniors around us cheer, before returning to their conversations.

The lines starts moving and we get to the food. Hamburgers. Our school serves hamburgers every year for the first day of school. I don't mind it really, it's one of the better meals. We grab our trays and choose our drink. I always just get a cup so that I can feel it with water if I feel like it. Some people get milk or apple/orange juice, but I never liked any of those drinks so water is my go-to drink at school. We walked past Mr. JC, he checks everyone's name off when they walk through. I smile at him like I will do everyday.

"Gemma S- " "I know who you are Gemma'" he smiles. "Welcome back!" "You too!" I shout over my shoulder as I scan over the many tables and chairs that fill this huge room we call the cafeteria. Jessie walks up behind me with her tray. "Maria and Chad are over there." She points to our other two best friends sitting at an end table at the back. The tables around it are full with seniors, as well. "Well I guess that's where we're sitting for the rest of the year!"

We walk towards the new "senior section" to our table. Jessie sits next to Maria and I slide in across from them, next to Chad. "Hey!" I say, happy to see my friends for the first time as official seniors! Chad gives me a sideways hug as Maria pulls out her Vera Bradley lunch box. She'll try and bring a lunchbox everyday, but within two weeks she'll get lazy and settle with the cafeteria lunches. She always does:) Chad releases me from his hug but keeps his arm around my shoulder. "So what are you ladies doing after school today? Gonna celebrate being a senior?" Chad asks, but before we can answer the new Irish kid approaches the table. "Hey can I seat with you guys?" he asks, smiling. "Yeah of course!" I reply, returning his smile. His eyes drift from my face to Chad's arm draped over my shoulder and his smile falters a little before quickly regaining its full width.

"Tenks," he says before sitting down next to me. I smile at his Irish accent showing completely in just one word. "Niall, these are my friends Jessie, Maria, and Chad." I gesture to each person as I introduce them. "Friends this is Niall. He sits behind in Berkley's class" "Hey Niall," they all say together. "Hello," Niall chuckles. "Ouch Gemma! I would like to think I'm more than just your friend," Chad exclaims with a wink! Niall clears his throat, "So um, are you two, like, um... dating?" I turn to Chad, his arm still over my shoulders, "Yeah our one month anniversary is in a week," I state kissing Chad on the cheek.

"Oh cool, bro," Niall shakes his head. Chad leans across me so he can look at Niall full on. "I plan on marrying this girl," Chad exclaims. I laugh, "Which will probably happen sooner than expected since I'm pregnant with your baby and everything!" Niall's eyes practically pop out of his head and his face gets red. "I can't wait," Chad whispers while rubbing my belly.
