The rest of class drones on. The first day is always the best/worst day of the year. It's the best because no work obviously, but instead of work you read the boring syllabus and do stupid icebreaker games. Those are the WORST!

My school is small, there's only 32 people in my grade. I've been with the same people since kindergarten so I don't know why I need to play an icebreaker game to, "get to know each other better," when I know them just fine! I can't help but think that I'll have to do this 6 more times for all the other classes.

I shouldn't even be here. I'm supposed to go to a concert tonight in Tennessee, but my mom got really sick all the sudden. I would've missed this awkward first day. My mom said I could have gone with out her, but she was so excited to go I wasn't gonna leave her.

The icebreaker games in Mr. Berkley's class go like they do every single year. I say, "I've got one sibling, and my favorite color is blue" every year. Cindy talks about her perfect grades every year. The Irish boy said he's got a sibling and his favorite thing to eat is everything. Derek, the stereotypical jock, always says something about how he's an only child because his parents thought he was perfect and they didn't need another kid and blah blah blah. It's the same thing every. Single. Year. It's gets old.

The loud bell finally rang through the school saving us from anymore games, until the next class that starts in 5 minutes.

I take my time packing up because I don't wanna be one of those students who get squashed trying to fit through the door with the others. I sling my backpack over my shoulder and start towards the door. There's a group of girls surrounding Niall, the new boy, as he walks out. I laugh at the scene in front of me. We rarely get new people at our school so when we do, everyone goes crazy trying to be there friend. I like to think of it as new meat, or fresh blood. Not in the weird, creepy way!

I step out of the classroom right as my best friend crosses the hallway. "Jessie!" I have yell over the other students to get her attention. "What class do you have next?" She pulls out her schedule and scans down it. "Calculus." "Perfect me too!"
