Friday finally rolled around and the second part of Giorno's plan was about to be put into place. Trish left headquarters early with Giorno and they made their way over to the sandwich shop, a bag of supplies in hand.
"Do you think it was a good idea to leave the food to Narancia?" Trish asked as the climbed the shop's steps.
"I left him a detailed list. Besides if Narancia came, Fugo would have wanted to too. Mista barely convinced him to stay back."
"Do you think telling Mista was a good idea?"
"We need as much help with the plan as possible. Someone has to keep an eye on Fugo while we set things up."
Trish looked at the door then back at Giorno.
"Do you really think this plan will work? Do you think they'll actually get together?"
"That part is up to them," Giorno knocked on the door, "but a little push never hurt anyone."
"C-coming!" They heard from inside the shop. The door burst open and out stepped Luna. She wore a simple pair of blue jeans and a loose white shirt. Over it she wore a green jacket and her hair was up in braids.
"Hi guys, I'm almost ready! Just let me close up the shop." Giorno and Trish exchanged a knowing glance.
"Miss Luna, I don't mean to be rude but is that what you're wearing to the picnic?" Giorno strategically asked. Luna froze.
"Well um, yes. It may be spring but the breezes make it cold so I thought maybe-um,"
"Luna, no need to get so flustered," Trish backed Giorno's play. "We just thought you'd dress up a little more seeing as this is the first time you hang out with us outside the shop."
"Well s-since you guys are my fr-friends I didn't think much-"
"No no it's fine, really," Trish raised up the supply bag, ready to go in for the kill. "Just thought you'd want to dress up a little, in case you got some alone time with Fugo." Trish laid the trap down. All Luna needed was to take the bait.
"A-a-alon-ne!? With F-f-fug-go!?!" Hook line and sinker. Luna's face turned a light pink as her hands took hold of her braids. She thought for a minute.
"Wha-what did you have in mind?" Trish and Giorno rested a hand on Luna's shoulders.
"Just leave it to us!"
After a little "setup" the trio made their way over to the duck park, arriving a little earlier than the others.
"T-trish, I don't think this was a good idea." Luna's attire had been replaced with a low cut, long sleeved pink sweater that ended above her belly button. Her jeans had become loose flowy pink pants that tapered at her ankles. Her braids had been tweaked by Giorno so her hair was in an updo. Trish had also applied minimal makeup to her; mascara, shiny lip gloss, and silver glittery eyeshadow.
"Luna don't worry, you look like we pulled you out of a magazine," Trish rubbed her cheek. "I didn't even need to use foundation."
"But I can barely walk" Luna stumbled a bit, not being used to wearing the silver wedges Trish gave her. Giorno wrapped an arm around Luna and helped her catch her balance.
"Guuuuuys! Over here", called out Narancia. Behind him were Mista, Bruno, Abbacchio, and of course, Fugo. All carrying bags, blankets, and other picnic things.
"Luuuuna!" And thus began the greeting ritual once again. Though Giorno kept his arm around Luna to keep her balanced. As the line of greetings when down, Giorno couldn't help but notice Fugo's eyes practically bulging out of his head. He smirked. 'all according to the plan' Giorno let go of Luna.
"I'm going to help the others set up, join us after you two talk." With that he left the two alone. Luna looked up only to find Fugo's eyes staring back at her. She began to gently tremble.
"Hi, Miss Luna." Fugo smiled, a faint pink dusting his cheeks. "You look very pretty." Luna stopped trembling. Fugo rubbed his neck and shyly smiled. Luna's embarrassed smile shocked Fugo.
"Thank you, Fugo."
"Wait. You…… you didn't stutter!" Fugo's eyes widened. "I think that's the first time I've talked to you without you stuttering."
"Wa," Luna turned red "I-i don't do it on purpose, it's just that." She looked away and began fidgeting with her hands. "I get nervous around you." Fugo silently watched, taking in how cute she looked.
"Why nervous?"
"We-well it's cuz-z I-i” Luna stumbled backwards.
"Woah Careful!" Fugo reached out to catch her hand right before she fell. As he helped her up, he couldn't help but think how uncomfortable Luna looked.
"I think I understand now." He let her hand go. "it's because you are scared of me right?"
"Wha-what?"
"When we visit the shop, the others are usually the ones busting in and talking with you. It must be strange when it's just the two of us, right?"
"N-no it's not like th-that."
"I'm pretty smart Luna. It's not hard to piece it together. I mean, anyone can tell from just the way you greet us."
"What do you mean?"
"C'mon. Narancia gets a hug, Giorno gets a kiss on the cheek so on so forth. Yet," Fugo placed a hand on her shoulder. Luna almost immediately began shaking. "it's always different with me. You don't have to force yourself to be kind to me if it makes you uncomfortable." Fugo sadly smiled. He had to be an idiot to not notice how differently she treated him compared to the others. "We should go help set up." As he turned to leave, he felt a hand on his wrist. He turned back to her just as she pulled him in for a hug. Luna's head rested firmly against his chest as her hands snaked around his back. His arms came around her back instinctually, pulling her closer. Through the holes in his clothes he could feel the heat coming off her and he relished in it. He wished dearly that he could've stayed like that forever, but he had to put his brain over his heart here.
"You don't have to force yourself to do this…" He regretted the words as fast as they came out of his mouth.
"I'm sorry if you felt left out!" Wait what.
"Excuse me?"
"I didn't know that you felt left out Fugo. Y-you should have said something." She looked up at him. "Y-you're ve-ery important to me F-fugo. I'm sorry f-for making you feel like you weren't-t-t." She rested her cheek against his chest again, her hold on him slightly tightening. Fugo felt like he was on cloud nine.
"It's not like that." He mumbled to himself, a little relieved and embarrassed by what Luna said. She finally pulled away but grabbed ahold of Fugo's hand.
"Let's go help the others set up." Luna's new found confidence was contradicted by the pink that dusted her cheeks. Fugo didn't say anything however, and chose to squeeze her hand back as a reply.
