Hi guys, welcome to Runes and Seraph Blades. I hope you guys like the book.
--------------
Orion Roseheart loved being in the Institute. Something about it just made him feel happy. He loved training in the training room, staying up reading in the library and sneaking out with Jace. Not that he would ever tell his mom that he snuck out. She would never let him stay at the Institute, he'd be permanently stuck in Idris. The red head was in a rush though. He had slept in that morning and was late for training with Isabelle and her parabati, Lillian. Lillian was Jace's twin sister and was an almost exact carbon copy of him too. She looked like him and had a very similar personality.
Orion wasn't watching where he was going and ended up tripping and stumbling right into the eldest Lightwood sibling, Alec. The dark-haired boy steadied Orion before giving him a small smile. Orion's cheeks lit up with a dark red.
"I'm so sorry Alec!" Orion exclaimed as he brushed himself off, "I wasn't looking where I was going and..."
"It's ok, Orion," Alec cut the boy off, "You didn't hurt anyone, but if I may ask, where were you going in such a hurry?"
"I'm late for training with Lilly and Izzy," Orion sighed, smiling at Alec, "And they'll both have my head if I don't get there quick."
"Well you better go quick, I just passed the training room and they both looked impatient," Alec remarked before waving and walking off towards the library.
"Bye, Alec," Orion whispered to himself before letting out a sigh. He turned and jogged to the training room just to be met with two glares.
"Where were you?" Izzy asked, Lilly by her side. Both females looked about ready to kill him.
"I slept in and then I ran into, literally ran into, Alec on my way here," He explained, a sheepish look on his face.
"Ooh, Alec," Lilly cooed in a sing-song voice. Lilly and Izzy were the only two who knew that Orion had a crush on Alec.
"Shut up, Lilly!" Orion exclaimed, blushing.
"Who is telling my twin to shut up?" Jace asked, walking into the training room.
"Orion," Izzy replied, greeting the other Wayland as he walked in. Orion rolled his eyes at Jace, going over to the wall to pick up a training staff.
"Hey Wayland," Orion called, looking at Jace, "Wanna spar?"
"Sure you can take it, Roseheart?" Jace asked, grabbing his own training staff.
Orion rolled his eyes and nodded. Him and Jace circled each other, staff's poised to fight. Orion stepped toward him quickly and Jace raised his staff in a defensive position. Orion smirked and took another step toward the blonde male. He swung and hit Jace's staff. That was just the start. Soon the Institute could hear every hit the two sent toward each other's staff's. Jace made the mistake of swinging at Orion's legs. Orion stepped on his staff and quickly yanked the staff out of Jace's hand. Jace looked surprised as Orion cast Jace's staff behind him. Jace rolled as Orion swung at him, but couldn't get behind him. He used his hands and forearms to block the staff and then grabbed the middle of Orion's staff, pulling him for Ward and then pushing him back, causing Orion to fall into the mat. They both stilled, panting from the energy they both put out. Then they both started laughing.
"Looks like ya got me, Jace," Orion told him as he accepted a help up from the other male.
"You did pretty good, Orion," Jace pulled him up, emphasizing his name as he spoke. Neither boys noticed that Izzy and Lillian had gone away.
"Thanks, Jace," Orion chuckled, "I think I'm gonna go to the library and check on Alec."
"You know, you and Alec spend so much time together, I think that you should his parabati instead of me," The blonde remarked.
"Whatever," Orion brushed off the comment. He ran his hands through his hair as he walked. If Jace could see that he and Alex were spending time together, does that mean Orion's crush on the Lightwood was obvious?
Orion shook these thoughts from his head as he walked into the library. Alec was in his and Orion's favorite spot in the library. It was this slightly hidden corner where they could be shielded from sight when they hung out.
"Hey, Orion," Alec looked up from his book and greeted him as he walked up.
"Hey Alec," Orion plopped down next to the Lightwood with a content sigh, "I'm bored, when's our next mission?"
"Tonight," Alec replied without looking up from his book.
"That's so far away..." Orion playfully whined.
"Go hang out with Izzy," Alec told him.
"She's with Lillian and I don't feel like being questioned about my relationship status or which boy I have a crush on," Orion sighed, sending a wary glance at Alec. Him and Alec didn't talk about his sexuality often, it was a bit of an awkward point between the friends and Orion wasn't sure why.
"That seems like a you problem," Alec said, looking at him, "Stop looking at me like that, I'm not going to pull out my seraph blade just because you like boys.
"Whatever," Orion rolled his eyes. He picked up a book and started reading, tuning out the world.
