Kirsten speedily stirred the pot of soup, and glanced on the wall clock for the umpteenth time. It was 6:50pm and Jeffery normally comes home around 7:00pm. The last thing she wanted to do was get him upset, for she knew the results wouldn't be very nice.Luckily for her, the soup was thoroughly cooked before she heard Jeff come in.
"Babe I'm home." he called out as he shut the front door of their one bedroom house which consists of bathroom, kitchen and a small sitting room.
"In the kitchen" she called back as she poured some soup into two bowls for them to eat. "Hey, how was your day?" she asked, starting a conversation that would not annoy him.
"Just fine," he replied "but I'm hungry now. Have you prepared dinner?"
"Yes I have." She places the bowls on the small, wooden table in the center of the room.
Jeffery walked to the wooden table, sat and looked down in his bowl, then hers.
"Soup?" he asked unbelievably.
"Yes Jeffery, I made soup for us." Kirsten answered in a sing song voice.
"Did I tell you I want soup? Huh!" he yelled getting up harshly, causing his chair to noisily scrape against the floor.
"Oh, you left no money for me to buy food so I thought I could just prepare something that we already have." Kirsten forced a smile, not wanting to show fear, but could hold back no longer when Jeffery grabbed her shoulder.
"Then you should've just used your money!"
"J-Jeff I told you that I'm saving." she stuttered.
"Saving my ass" he said in mocking disgust and pulled her up by her blouse. "You're always saving! I need to borrow $50, as soon as I get paid I will repay you."
When he released her she hurried to the bedroom to get $50 from her savings and gave Jeffery. She wanted him out of the house before she begins to cry as he'd be more upset if she does.
Seconds after he closed the front door, the water works along with the slight shaking of her shoulders began. She hugged herself and set off in the direction of the bedroom.

Kirsten woke up around midnight when she heard a door slam shut. She got out of bed and slipped on her robe
"Jeff?" she called out as she walked to the sitting room.
"Shit!" When she heard his frustrated voice, she let out a breath she didn't know she was holding in, then walked towards the front door where a staggering Jeffery was trying to make his way to the couch.
"Jeffery" she wanted to hear if he was really drunk.
"You're standing there like a guard, why don't you come help me?"
'Yes definately drunk' Kirsten thought as she switched on the lights then helped him to the couch.
"Would you like some water?" she asked, trying her very best not to upset him as he is a very angry drunk.
"No, I wanna sleep." he said standing from the couch.
"Ok" Kirsten said then helped him to the bedroom where she removed his shoes and covered him.
"You know what" Jeffery said as he sat up.
"What are you doing?" Kirsten was confused when he held on to her night dress.
"Let's get into bed" she knew what he meant when he said that.
"No Jeff" she removed his hands.
