Chapter 1
Unable to control my excitement, I squealed quietly and hugged my best friend, Jess. It was her turn to perform in the Showcase and she was going to be amazing. I just knew it.
"Stop it! You're going to ruin my makeup!" She joked nervously.
"Sorry, but you're going to do great, trust me."
"Thanks" She hugged me; more carefully than when i hugged her, and ran onto the stage.
Hearing the smatteriing of applause, I sighed happily. I can't believe I made it! After all those hours of practices, I was finally at the showcase! The audition had been nerve-wracking; waiting for my number to be called and watching all the amazing performers that had went on before me. But when I did go on, it was amazing. The piece that I had specially picked out for this performance meant so much to me. I had danced my feelings out. I smiled happily to myself. This time, I would perform in front of a real audience, not just judges, and it was going to be so much better. Sadness took me as I remembered that this would be the last performance of my time here at the art school. I had been here since I was young, learning and developing my passion for dance. Distracted by the sound of the music for Jess's piece, I focused my gaze onto Jess.
Jess specialized in Jazz. She was dancing to a song called Bulletproof. It started out slow then when the real beat starts coming out, is when her dance skills are shown. I was going to miss her. We would still keep in contact and she would still come over to my house, but it would be different not seeing her everyday at school.
After her piece was done, one of our fellow students, Justin did his piece, then it was my turn.
"Don't worry, you'll be great."
"Thanks Jess. I'm going to miss you when I change schools."
Her expression grew sad. "I know, me too. But for now you're going to be amazing on stage, okay?" She smiled encouragingly.
Smiling back at her, I took a deep breath and walked out on stage. Taking my starting position, I closed my eyes and waited for the music to come.
And when it did, I danced.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I ended the dance with a soft sigh. This was it. My last dance at the place where I grew up at. Staring at the audience, I did a quick bow and walked off the stage to a round of applause. I was met by Jess hugging me, no longer worried about our makeups, it was a fierce hug.
"You were so amazing."
"Thanks."
Turning around, I stared back at the stage. Back when I first started at this school, it was old but not as old as now. Now, it was starting to show its age. With the floor sticking up near the edges and covered in scratches from the long years of dancers dancing on it. This was where I performed my dance, and it was where I performed every one after. I was going to miss it. Maybe as much as I missed my friends, because it was the single thing that had stayed with me every single time I performed. It had always been there, safe and sturdy.
"Come on, we've got to go get changed." Jess said.
Smiling back at her, I followed her back to our changing rooms.
Walking behind Jess, I made sure to try and drink in every detail of the stage. After today, I was no longer a student of the prestigious PA Instituition.

(Evan's POV)
Shit! Mentally cursing the bucket that I had tripped on, I roughly grabbed a rag and began scrubbing up the mess that the spilled bucket had made.
Last week, Dylan, the jock dude that think he's all that, had vandalized school property. Again. Walking in just in time for the teacher's to get there, and Dylan and his followers to escape, I had been falsely accused. Since they had destroyed a lot of expensive things that belong to the school (those jackasses) I had been charged community service at a stupid rich private school to make up for the loss. Currently, I was working my hours off (slowly and painfully) doing janitor's duty after school.
Finishing cleaning the mess, I moved onto the next hallway. This stupid school has a crazy amount of hallways to clean ( or it seemed like it). I don't even know how the students here made it to their classes on time without getting lost. Grimacing slightly, of course the only students that could go here were rich bitches and jerks that thought they were better than everyone else. Making my way slowly to the first door, I heard music. Curiosity getting control of me, I peered in through the tiny window and saw the most beautiful thing I had ever seen.
It was a girl, dancing. She was beautiful. With a body like a model's her every movement mesmerized me. From this far, I couldn't see her too clearly, but it was obvious to me that she was stunningly beautiful. I didn't know how long it was but when her dance ended, a pang of longing gripped me. I don't know what it was about this girl, but I wanted to see her again. But seeing as I don't even know her name, I didn't see how that would be possible.
