Chapter 2

"You Ready?" Jake asked.

Sighing, I reluctantly replied, "As ready as I'll ever be."

The raucous ringing of the school bell signaled the start of my first day at Westfield High.

"I think you should go now. You wouldn't want to be late on your first day at a new school."

Sighing in defeat, I slowly got out of the car.

"Good luck!" Jake waved.

Turning around, I made a face at him and waved good-bye. Like I said, always the optimist.

Facing the school, I took at good look at it. Boring walls covered with their school mascot, with a big building to the side that I assume was their gym. I've never actually seen a public high school in person but from what I saw from the chick flicks, it looked pretty similar.  Walking toward the entrance of the school, I sigh again. Hopefully no one will expect me to be a cheerleader, I think wryly as I eyed a couple of girls in cheerleader costumes bouncing around with smiles plastered on their faces like they were on a sugar high. Not that that was possible, after all, cheerleaders have to be able to fit in their uniform, and eating a bunch of sugar until they get hyper just won't do it.

"Hey there!"

It wasn't until I felt someone tapping my shoulder that I realized that person had been speaking to me.

"Hey! You're the new girl right? My name's Tracy, what classes do you have? Did you get your schedule yet? You're supposed to it in the email but since you transfered here in the middle of the year I'm not sure how they would have done it. Everyone's talking about you since we don't usually get new students. We're a pretty small school as you can see." Tracy smiled wildly.

I stood there staring at her stunned. How could she talk so much but not be panting for breath at the end? Realizing that she was still smiling at me waiting for me to talk back, I tried to remember what she'd said.

"Uh." Yeah. Real Smart Lena. Ugh. "Yeah, I have my schedule here." I said, reaching around to get it out of my backpack. She immediately grabbed it from my hands.

"OMG! You're in my first and third periods! Come on I'll show you to class!" Hooking her arm through mine, she literally dragged me into the school.

"Um, sure."

"So, I'll fill you in, over there is the "it" couple," she said, pointing to a two people making out against the lockers. Ew. "you know, they're the classic jock and head cheerleader couple," Actually I don't know? "and over there is the calculus room, the teacher's name is Mr. Teller you probably won't have him since you're a junior, but hes hot!" Um... "OH! and here we are; your first class." She ushered me in with her and we took two empty seats that we found were together. There were already some people in the classroom waiting for the second bell to ring. Ahah! And there it is! I thought as the bell rang once more, hurting my eardrums. The students sat down quickly as the teacher walked in. She was a small old lady but with the look on her face,  I don't think she could be messed with. She kind of reminded me of Professor McGonagall from the Harry Potter series.

"Hello students, as you may have noticed, we have a new student joining our school starting today." Oh no. Not having ever been at a new school, I didn't know what she was about to tell me to do.

"Her name is Adelina Tillman and she has just transferred from the PA Institution. Give a wave Adelina." I groaned mentally. Why did she have to say that? First of all, I hated my full name and now everyone knew that I came from the PA. That will automatically classify me as a rich bitch. I could already feel all the eyes on me. Biting my lip to keep my face in the neutral expression, I did a awkward hand wave while I shrunk into my seat.

"And you can just call me Lena, Ms...." I trailed off not knowing her last name.

"Steller. Its Ms. Steller. I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time here at Westfield High."

"Yea I'm sure..." I resisted the urge to do a facepalm.

Turning around, Ms. Steller grabbed an expo pen and started writing the homework on the whiteboard.

"Now class, today's lesson will be on..."

As I started to copy down the homework, I thought, God please I'll do whatever you want just please get me throught this day unharmed." I was mentally on my knees begging.

Walking out of the classroom, I did a sigh of relief. I'm almost there. It was lunch time now and only 2 periods away from me rushing home and ranting to Jess. Tracy had stuck with me until the end of first period since she had to go to her own class, but had come back during third period. Now, I assumed that she was heading to the cafeteria since it was lunchtime. Since I didn't know where the cafeteria was, I decided to follow the flow of the other students.

When I reached the cafeteria, I got in line and carefully chose a cheese sandwich. All of the other foods looked like they had once been fresh but now had gotten microwaved so many times, they were no longer edible. After I paid for my food, I turned around with my tray in my hands and looked around. At the PA, people sat with their sections like dance, music, art. Here, I wasn't really sure how it worked out. Let's see here, a table with cheerleaders; nope definitely not, a table with a bunch of people that had mutilcolored hair; uh... Just as I was about to turn towards another table that looked like it held normal people with normal hair, I felt someone sling their arm over me pulling me in the other direction.
