UNEXPECTING THE UNEXPECTED

My head snapped over to Gabriel who stood from his seat with his dazzling smile as he strode over to Anthro.

“Good evening Anthro, so nice of you to join us!” He beamed.

A snarl threatened to escape from my lips but I held back. Keeping my calm I merely stood to my feet to welcome our… guest.

“Welcome to our home,” I chimed, standing next to Gabriel with a smile on my face.

He looked the same in his suit and tie with his hair down brushing his shoulders.

Gabriel smiled at me lightly and I felt his hand rest on the small of my back.

‘Why is he here?’ I asked Gabriel in my head.

I could feel a small tingle in the back of my scull but whatever he was going to tell me was cut off when the door opened again and in walked Kamen. My smile broadened, to an actual smile as eh strode in and straight towards us.

“Kamen,” I beamed.

He smiled and I felt Gabriel give me a small push and I walked to him letting him loop his arms around me in a hug. I smiled at him and he kissed my cheek. “What’s going on baldy?” He said teasingly at me.

I pulled back and slapped his shoulder lightly. “It’s was becoming a little too much…” I said touching my hair absently mindedly.

He only chuckled. “It looks nice.”

I smiled, giving a slight nod. I looked up at Gabriel with a small smile. “I’m going to get back to the girls, let you men get on with you’re boring business talks.” I winked and pecked his chin before walking off back to my seat.

‘I want an explanation later.’ I though to Gabriel.

I watched him nod and smile at the men, leading them on to the others, already in conversation.

I sat down and watched Christa give me a knowing smile. “What?” I asked.

“You know what,” Kate chuckled. “You are going to kill him aren’t you.”

I chuckled. “I wouldn’t kill the man that gave me an amazing life. If it wasn’t for him I wouldn’t have found my Gabe.”

“You also wouldn’t have suffered and cried yourself to sleep for months on end.” Christa reminded me.

I only smiled, brushing it off. “Everything happens for a reason.”

Most of the talk was business and it was dreadfully boring. I hated business talk, and then on top of it I had Gabriel’s sneaky hands going at my legs under the table and deadly close to other places. I had snuck a couple glances at Anthro who took no shame in staring at me. His eyes cold and hard. Emotionless. What a shocker there, he didn’t have an emotional bone in his body.

I jumped out of my thoughts as I felt Gabriel’s hand move more and more up my thigh. I let out a breath and reached for my glass. Taking a long greedy gulp of the thick red liquid.

“So Cara mentioned that you were looking into another kingdom,” Kate brought up.

He smiled, giving my thigh a squeeze. “Yes actually.”

“In Australia, or America.” Christa nodded..

“Cara is leaning more on the Australia side. So I think were going to do that,” he said.
