There was a time when she was still.
She only moved with the wind, swaying slightly, calmly. When they shook her, made her limbs groan with the weight that they put on her shoulders.
Those days were long over. Now she moved, could walk and run of her own accord. Yet she remembered a time when she was still, not caring, without any duties, no emotion. She remembered hands pressed against her, pushing against the cracking and peeling bark. She remembered, from the sheer power of those inhuman hands, she moved for the first time. She paid a price for it. It was hatred, a feeling that she never knew but felt for the first time.
Now she had free will, and was glad of that. No inhuman spirit to control her, to make her hate. The one thing she would hate is hate itself, she decided. It was a noble aim, to rid herself of hatred. Tearing away from the powerful creature was the first step, and it had been simple, too.
And now, she had a duty to fulfill.
She waited.
Waiting was the price. She would meet her true owners one day, learn love for the first time. Their names are engraved on her arm, but with her eyes gray and sightless, uselessly plastered on a wooden face, she can't read them.
Until she fulfilled her duty, the names would never come to her.
So she waited.
And her waiting came to an end.
"I seek the prophecy," said a voice, powerful and commanding. "I request for you to tell me of the prophecy that dictates our world's future."
She smiled. "Of course."
A small gasp sounded. The voice had clearly expected a challenge, but she was more than willing to give up the prophecy, even to the wrong hands. She was willing to do anything to feel.
She drew in a deep breath, and recited the prophecy.
Author's Note:
Hello! Yes, I am starting over Bob's Life. I have finished the first book, technically, but there were too many plot holes, and, well, it's simply too broken beyond repair. Hopefully this version will be better. Hopefully.
