"So it looks like we got assigned to sit next to each other," Peter said, putting his carryon underneath the seat and trying to look less nervous then he was. He looked down at his ticket and then quickly shoved it into his pocket to make sure that she couldn't see that his seat number was completely different.
(Y/N) looked at him with surprise at first, and he could see the exhaustion in her eyes. "Really?" She said, the tone disbelieving. "What a coincidence." He swore he saw a smile tug at the edge of her lips, but he dismissed it because she couldn't be happy to see him.
"Yeah crazy right? So how have you been?"
"Sleep deprived." She deadpanned, "I waited until the last minute packing-"
"Seems like you."
"Stop it." She punched him in the shoulder lightly and full on smiled. "Look I know I procrastinate sometimes but it's not fair-"
"Sometimes? Maybe the text messages I have where your asking me how to complete a project the day before it's due will make you think differently."
"Okay, okay fine you win." She smiled at him before the conversation lulled into silence. The two of them pulled out their phones and began typing away as a way to avoid conversation and the elephant in the room, or airplane.
After what felt like forever, the captain's voice crackled over the intercom. "Hello ladies and gentleman, very happy to have you here on our flight to Prague. Please note that the plane has two exits, one in the front and one in the back, and now our flight attendants will show you how to put on a life jacket in case of an emergency water landing and how to use oxygen masks in case of loss of cabin pressure." The flight attendants did the demonstration and then he continued, "We're looking at about an 8 hour and twenty-minute flight, so sit back put your tray tables in an upright position and enjoy the ride."
The plane began to taxi along the runway, and Peer saw (Y/N) grip the seat rest tightly. The metal began to crumble under her fingers, and she quickly pulled her hand away, breathing a little heavier. He stared at her for a little too long and she caught him. "So this is why you came over here, huh?" He didn't answer, "Didn't want me to kill everyone?" She half whispered.
"Not true." He said finally, though that was a lie. "I was trying to save you from having to sit next to Brad." He laughed.
"That wouldn't be a problem." She smirked, "He's cute." She shrugged, turning behind her to see where he was seated, "But it looks like MJ's already laid claim to him." She pointed to where Brad and MJ were seated together talking and smiling amongst themselves. "They're cute."
"Yeah, yeah," Peter said, suddenly staring at MJ and Brad.
"What are you jealous or something Parker?" (Y/N) smiled, but upon seeing the worried look on Peters' face she stopped. "Hey, what's wrong?"
"Nothing-nothing." He said, turning back so that he faced forward and ran a hand through his hair. "Brads just kind of a jerk."
"Well not everyone can be as adorably nerdy as you Peter." She said suddenly, covering her mouth just as she said it. Peter stared at her awkwardly for a few moments, and then she tried to correct what she said. "I mean-uh yeah Brads not that bad. That's what I meant."
"What have you been hanging out with brad now?"
"We've hung out a couple of times, just like casually, he's cool. Overly confident but I grew up with that so I'm used to it."
"Oh-" He trailed off and didn't say anything, for a while.
The plane suddenly began to pick up speed, (Y/N) grabbed onto the seat rest tightly again, and breathed in and out dramatically. Peter pulled her hand off of the rest and squeezed it, before pulling it into his lap.
