Episode 2: Friendly or deadly?

Violet tossed and turned that night. She couldn't sleep and she knew exactly why.
What if she escaped the herd? What if she's still out there? These questions kept her up at night but why? She was with the delta. It kept eating away at her and it didn't help knowing that she could still be out there. That's when she decided she'll ask clementine what exactly happened on the bridge that night. Until exhaustion forced her to give up.

That's when the night truly began.

There violet was standing completely surrounded by the darkness.
That feeling of relief and danger both filled the air. Violet was glad to be here but her brain was telling her to get as far away from this place as possible. But before she could make a move,she appeared,she looked the same as before. Walking towards her, with her face expressing some sort of sorrow for violet.
And when they stood face to face,they exchanged faces that could only say that they wish things could have turned out ok.

"Why didn't you wait for me?" Violet said looking down.
"I had to look for them. I told you the delta is the only family I had."
"But you had us,you had me" violet finally looked up at her
A look of hatred appeared on Minnie's face. Her words as cold as ice.
"No. No,don't feed me that bullshit. If you really wanted to be with me, then you would have stopped her."

"But we couldn't, both of us tried to stop the bomb and we failed. What makes it any easier me doing it by myself?"
"Really violet? I thought you were smarter than this." She crossed her arms. "Did you ever think about killing her in her sleep?"

"Why would I kill her? We were just going to stop the bomb from blowing up the ship. Nothing else." Violet argued. She was starting to get pissed off herself.
"She's the reason I'm dead." Minnie said sharply

"No. We don't know that until we find you." It was at that moment that violet turned away from her.
"Vi don't play dumb,It doesn't suit you. If I were still alive I would have went back to the school by now"
"We'll see about that. You're probably just lost. I mean it's been a fucking year Minnie." Minnie placed her hand on her shoulder only for violet to turn around and hug her. Violet knew it wasn't real but she didn't care. She was there at least.

That's when Willy knocked on the door.
"Violet breakfast is ready."
"Ok thanks"
She got into a sitting position on the bed.
"Ugh,morning already?" She said to herself.
That's when she remembered that today was the day that they look for the caravan group. She got out of bed and attempted a stretch before willy came knocking at the door again. "Violet your foods getting cold!"

"Shit willy, you think I don't know that!" Violet fired back at him.
There was silence on the other end fortunately. She grabbed her cleaver and left her room.
Everyone was outside already including clementine. And that was unexpected considering she slept in a lot. But being a leader of a community required more responsibility and clementine was taking that well.

Violet surveyed the courtyard to see who was where. Ruby and asaim were taking inventory of the items they had in the cellar.
Clementine,Louis and AJ were standing around a table with Louis and AJ being given instructions by the brunette girl.
Rosie was lying down on the ground next to the stairs leading into ericsons school while Omar was taking all the dishes inside the school. And there was willy on watch. Violet decided to talk to Louis and AJ. She would talk to the other kids later after the duo left.

As she approached them, she caught part of what clementine was telling them what to do. "And if they turn out to be good people,don't let that fool you,they could be cannibals for all we know."
"What are cannibals?" This came from AJ.
Clementine didn't know how to answer that so Louis did instead.
"Let's just say for right now they think humans are tasty and we'll leave the rest for Clem to explain"

The little boy thought about it for second until he snapped back into reality.
"Violet?" Clementine said looking at her.
"I just came here to wish these two good luck." She gave a smile at the end.  A smile then showed on clementines face too as she turned back to the pair.
"You're gonna do great. Just remember what i told you." Clementine said optimistically.
"ah look at you two,treating us like this is our first day to school. How lovely." Louis joked.

"We won't let you down clem" a determined AJ answered back.
"Yeah I hope you don't. We need you both here still."
"Ok well we should start heading out before they change direction" Louis said redirecting them back to the goal at hand.
As Louis and AJ walked out the gate that willy opened for them. They looked back to see a worried clementine.

Then violet stood next to her.
"Don't worry." She started. "They'll make it back"
About 30 minutes later.....
It was a cold morning and the forest was alive with the birds chirping and the grass moving with the cold breeze. Fall was here and the trees were looming over them with there leaves turning brown.
They were walking through the woods toward where asaim told them they were last seen.

"The trap area." AJ said breaking the silence between the two. "That's where asaim said they last were." something about the kid made Louis take him seriously. He doesn't know if it's because of how dangerous he was or because of the shit he's been through or both
"That's right little dude." As they continued walking through the forest Louis saw this as an attempt to get closer with the boy. So he began speaking.

"So,what do you think this caravan group will be like?"
"I don't know." He mumbled in returned. "I just hope they're good because we can use some more good people at the moment."
"You and me both AJ. You and me both" Louis said trailing off. That's when they heard a gun shot echo out through the vibrant forest.
"Get down." Whispered Louis while both of them dropped down to the ground.

Louis readied the bow and arrow that willy created using the supplies they got from the raid on the delta. Although he told clementine he wasn't good with a bow, she said it would be safer to shoot from a distance than rush them with a weapon IF they turned out bad. And that's the part that scared him. If these were bad people, then they would be brought back to square one all over again like with the delta and Louis didn't want that.

They barely managed to fight off the delta and that was with clementine not being handicapped. On the bright side clem told him when he got back safe and sound she'll help teach him how to actually shoot a bow so that was something to look forward to. AJ on the other hand was completely ready for this and Louis had faith that he would be able to take care of himself say things did go south. He had that revolver of his and a knife.

"It came from that way" AJ said,breaking Louis out of his train of thoughts. As they got closer to the source of the gunshot. They came across a river bed that a group of people had set a couple of tents in. Along with the tents were a few horses with carriages attached to them. It seemed like most of them were up and moving about. Some of them were sitting around a fire,sharpening weapons or cleaning rifles. One of them sitting in the circle was stirring something inside the pot that they had over a fire. Another two were heading out into the woods,one carrying an axe and the other carrying a crossbow.

But the one detail that got Louis's attention was a man who just came back from the woods. He had a leather jacket with ripped jeans and working boots. One long scar ran across his right eye down to his chin. He even had a goatee along with a buzz cut. In his hand was a revolver that showed a little bit of rust on it.

As he walked back to the biggest tent,AJ began "This must be them."
"You think so?"
"Yeah. They look like fighters."
That's when Louis felt the cold barrel of a gun press against his head.
