CHAPTER 6- Stay
Demi's POV
He held me for a long time while I sobbed into his t-shirt, murmuring assurances into my ear that were slowly calming me down. When my body-wracking sobs had subsided into silent tears, he shifted.
"NO!" I screeched, suddenly overcome with terror at the thought of him going anywhere. "Don't please me. Please!"
He shook his head, "Demi I'm not leaving, I'm getting you off of this floor."
Wilmer leaned down and picked me up bridal style, then brought me into the bedroom. I held onto him as he set me down on the huge bed.
"Stay."
He smiled, and got into the bed, wrapping his arms around me as I scrambled closer to his body. I relished in the moment, forgetting about the fact that he would eventually walk out that door again without any intention of coming back. I didn't think about how he didn't want this like I did. I didn't think about the way he held me like I was just a friend. I didn't want to worry about him not loving me anymore. I just felt his warm body embrace me, holding me like he used to and I started crying again, I'd missed this so much. I needed him more than I needed air. Most people would find it dramatic, but it was true, I no longer cared about how people thought of our relationship- I'd lost that privilege a long time ago. All I cared about was the fact that in this moment he was here, and it was all I could ever ask for.
"It's okay Demi, I'm here."
I shook my head, "But your gonna leave. You're gonna leave I'm gonna be alone again."
He sighed, and instead of letting him answer I leaned up and pressed my lips to his. No surprise, he pulled away.
"Demi.. I can't."
Shaking my head, I pulled him closer.
"Wilmer I can't keep losing you. Just please stay with me."
His eyes were pitying, "Demi we can't keep doing this to both us. We can be friends, and establish that first. After that, maybe we'll think about a relationship."
I nodded, but looked pleadingly into his eyes. "Can you just kiss me? One more time so I can remember?"
His face was full of emotion as he gently cupped my cheeks in his huge hands and began to lean in. I closed the gap between us quickly, kissing his passionately and gripping his hands so he couldn't pull away. A tidal wave of emotion came over me, washing my entire body free of the negative thoughts. Every cell in my body tingled with relief at the feeling of his lips on mine. One touch from this man and I was putty in his hands.
All too soon, he pulled away and once again wrapped me up in his arms.
"I love you." I whispered against his neck.
He sighed, "I love you too Hermosa."
