for the past hour grandma and me has been talking non stop after we ate the good food she had cooked.

"you look just like your mama." grandma smiled at me as i sat on the couch across from her. "the curves and all."

i only smiled as i rubbed over my arm feeling the scratches that'll probably turn into scars. i then looked up once i remembered something.

"who's that boy who picked me up earlier?" i asked as she brushed a curly strand out her face.

"who kentrell?" she smiled, "i've been knowing that boy since he was fourteen. i took him in since he didn't have anybody but he moved out a year ago. im all he got." she said her smile slowly faded away but quickly came back.

"speaking of kentrell. he was supposed to come back to take you to the store since i wanted you to get some things." as soon as she said that he walked in with a slight frown.

"hey ma." he spoke before looking over at me. "come on."

i gave grandma a quick glance only to see she was now watching tv. i got up with my arms crossed and followed him back outside.

"ma wanted me to take you to get some things you needed like hair supplies and shit like dat." he said as if he could careless.

i only stayed silent until we made it to some store i've never been to before. i got out with him trailing behind me earning a loud 'damn' to come out his mouth.

"what?" i turned around to see he was looking down at something but quickly looked up to meet my gaze.

"what happened?" i asked raising one of my eyebrows.

"nun'." he only shook his head and continued to walk.

as soon as we walked in women were looking at kentrell as if he was a piece if candy but he didn't pay them no mind.

my dumb self finally realized we were at target once i was getting ready to leave. kentrell carried the small basket full of everything i grabbed as we made our way to the register.

"you got everything you needed?" the cashier licked her lips at kentrell as she rung my items up.

he only stared at her before looking down at me completely ignoring her. "you sure you got everything?" he asked almost making me choke on my spit.

"mhm." i nodded my head as the cashier scoffed looking me up down.
