Story: Enforcer

I awoke as the morning sun shone through the blinds of my bedroom window. Groaning, i sat up to check my clock. Wednesday 7:30 am. Ug, wednesday...there was a pack meeting today. I hated pack meetings almost as much as i did the pack itself, but that did not matter. My duty and my job was to show up and protect the pack, held by the blood oath i swore to Grim. You see, me as well as a handful of other males held the role of the pack's enforcers. Our job was to help protect the pack and look out for any threat that may endanger both the pack and our alpha. There were at least fifteen of us, the most elite of the warriors, best trackers, and more experience and skill than all of the war wolves put together. All of us took on the blood oath, which was the most binding oath a wolf could take. We swore it to Grim, the head enforcer. You're probably asking why we swore loyalty to Grim and not the alpha himself. The reason behind that is this. Enforcers are almost like our own pack within a pack. We do things differently, view things differently. In training we are separated from the pack completely, taken deep into the mountains for three years. Out there, the closest thing to a pack is the other enforcers with you and the closest thing to an alpha is the lead enforcer, the one who leads the training. That is why we sware loyalty to Grim and not the alpha. Grim is the only enforcer who follows the alpha, not under blood oath but under a promise he had made countless years ago.

Yawning, i got out of bed and headed over to the bathroom connected to me room. After a quick shower, i went over to the closet and dressed in the stereotypical enforecer wear. We dont wear any colors besides black and grey so there isn't much to really choose from. Usually i myself wear a long sleeved, fitted muscle shirt and loosely fitting cargo pants held up with a belt. With a pear of black lether combat boots, my wordrobe is complete. Glancing back at the clock, i checked the time again. 7:50. The meeting itself began around 8:30, but the enforecers showed up 30 minuets earlier in order to plan who is posted where. Suddenly, my bedroom door burst open and something slams into my chest. The force of it sends me a few steps back and onto the bed with a low chuckle. I look down at the laughing ball of blond hair that had his arms wrapped tightly around my chest. Ian, my little brother.

"Mikaz! Good morning!" Ian yelled, still laughing as i pryed his arms off me and took him into a hug of my own.

"Hey squirt, how ya doing this morning?" Ruffling his hair, I moved him back a bit so i could stand up and fix up the wrinkles in my shirt.

"Great! Usna said i could go to the pack meeting this time, but i gotta stay near Grim and i can't say anything." he jumped for joy, clearly very excited. I didn't understand why he was so excited when he got to go to the meetings, but then again, my little brother is a bit of a mystery. It could be because Usna, Grim, and I usually keep him separate from the corruptions of the pack and made sure he had rarely any contact. Most of the pack did not even know he existed, which is how i personally prefered it.

" Well Ian, lets go get Usna and Grim then eh? It's about time to go anyways." I said as i headed out of the door and down the stairs. Ian followed quietly behind me until we reached the kitchen where Usna already had breakfast made. Grim was sitting at the table Most likely reading through patroll updates brought to him ealier this morning by the packs's messenger. " Morning you guys." I said. Grabbing a plate, i sat at the table across from Grim as Usna and Ian took their seats on either side of me and began to eat. After everyone had finished breakfast, we all piled into my car and drove out to the pack meeting house. Most of the other enforcers were already there which meant we were a few minuets late. As we approached the other enforcers, Ian ran ahead to greet them, receiving very welcoming greetings and hugs from each. Sure Ian had little contact with the pack, but he was like the pup to all the enforcers. They loved him almost as much as Usna, Grim, and I.
