Prologue.

Being born at the end of the ninth century in Old England when the plague had just arrived, was like a warning sign- It was as if her life was always destined to be miserable. It started when her father had supposedly died of the 'plague', forcing her mother to seek settlement in another land in the New World , where a family by the name of  'Mikaelsons' had also coincidentally settled.

As time passed on, Audrey formed a bond with the Mikaelsons. They were always with eachother, wether it be hunting, or simply talking as they gazed at the night sky- they all seemed to enjoy each other's company; and that infuriated Mikael.

Since the day Audrey and her mother had arrived, he seemed dead set on keeping them far apart. He called Audrey a 'bad influence', and wouldn't allow her to be around the Mikaelson children- but that didn't stop her.

Years went on and the Mikaelson's still kept in contact with Audrey- Klaus more than any of his other siblings. He had grown fond of this girl. He didn't know what the feeling was, but he was attracted to her. And it made him realise- Audrey wasn't a child when she had arrived; she looked more like a young adult, and the Mikaelsons were just kids; but growing up with her, he had spent enough time around her to see that she had barely changed. She never grew taller or had any physical changes in her appearance- she just stayed the same.

But that didn't stop him from falling for her. It only drew him in more, and to fill his curiosity and desire for her- he decided to tell her how he felt. Expecting a rejection, it was fair to say that he was quite at shock to learn that she felt the same way. And so that was the beginning of a short lived relationship.

You see, after sleeping together for the first time, a week or two later- Audrey realised she was now pregnant with Klaus' child. She told him immediately and the two of them tried their very best to keep it hidden; but that wasn't so easy since they both had powerful witches as mothers.

Esther and Mikael, along with Audrey's mother, favoured respect and value of their family names over the happiness of their children. And so when they discovered the  'mistake' made between the two lovers, it led to the families creating a new species of blood thirsty creatures. The first of their kind, and all alone.

Esther Mikaelson, second most powerful witch to Audrey's mother, used her son's actions as an excuse to punish all five of her children- leading her to perform a spell on them all. The following morning, her children woke up as creatures they didn't know anything about. Their own father forced them all to drink human blood, giving them the final push- and turning them into Original vampires.

As for Audrey? Well- her Mother killed the baby along with her and fled. But what she didn't know was that her daughter lived on. Audrey had seen Mikael and Esther murder their children- or rather, turn them into vampires. So when Klaus had fully turned, his lover didn't leave anything to chance; and decided to drink his blood before her own mother would kill her.

Feeling a pang of guilt and sympathy towards the girl after her mother had vanished, Esther decided to put a spell on Audrey which would protect her from her mother's magic. In return, she only asked for one thing- the everlasting love and friendship she had shown towards the Mikaelson children. To guide them, and to help them in this new world of Supernaturals.
