Chapter 1: Chasing after her

Hiccup's POV

Toothless and me came back from another awesome flight high up in the clouds. We landed in front of the house where Dad and me lived and I got off of Toothless. I put off my helmet and faced Toothless, since he was nudging my arm and I smiled.'You're hungry, right bud?' , I said and he groaned happily when I fed him. I went up the stairs and opened the front door of our house. 'Dad?' , I called out. No answer. I shrugged, thinking that he has left again to do trade with people on other islands. I went upstairs and sat down at my desk in my room. A few moments later of sitting at my desk and staring at my sketches, I decided to go out and look after Toothless to see what he was doing. I left my room and went down the stairs to the front door. When I opened it to go outside, my eyes were locked onto something when I looked out. As I got down the stairs, I could see my eyes were locked onto a girl.

Your POV

I saw a boy coming out of that house that was several meters away from me. He had auburn hair which was a little longer than other boys of the town wore it, he wore kind of an armed flying suit and he had a peg leg. But there was one thing about him that caught me off guard. His eyes. They were so absorbing. This green had a perfect balance between light and dark, kindness and dominance. I was so amazed by his eyes. Then I noticed he was staring at me. His gaze was locked onto me, as if it was piercing me. Why as he staring at me like that? Am I that weird? I felt uncomfortable with his gaze on me so I ran off into the forest.

Hiccup's POV

All of a sudden she ran off into the woods. I don't know why but I ran after her, totally forgetting why I left the house in the first place. I didn't care anymore. 'Wait!!!' I shouted but she kept running away from me. Why did she run off? Did I scare her when I stared at her? Was she new in town? ... Who is she anyway? , I thought and I tried to keep up with her, my peg leg was never great for sprinting purposes. And then I almost couldn't see her anymore.

Normal POV

You ran as fast as you could to get away from this guy. Running deeper into the forest, it got darker and it was hard to see through all the branches that were either laying on the ground or hanging down from the trees, almost hitting you in the face. As you were trying to get them out of your face, you missed a rock underneath you and you tripped, falling on the ground. You quickly got to your feet again and wanted to start running again when you felt a hand grabbing you by your wrist. You turned around to see the auburn haired boy panting from exhaustion. 'Please... don't run away again...' , he managed to say. 'What do you want?' ,you asked him. He looked at you and replied: 'I want to know why you ran away from me.' 'I felt uncomfortable when you were staring at me like that.' you answered. You had to admit, seeing him up close, it would not take long until you would have a crush on him. Oh wait, you already have. No, stop it, (y/n)! You don't even know him!, you thought to yourself. Then you decided to say something. 'Now I want to know why you followed me. My name is (y/n) by the way.', you said and looked at him. You could see a slight blush growing on his cheeks. He looked so adorable with that blush on his face. 'Well,... uh.. I wanted to know who you were and if you were new in town.', he smiled at you. 'Nice to meet you, (y/n), my name is Hiccup.' he added. You returned the smile to Hiccup, thinking about his name. You liked it because it was not a normal name. Then you said: 'Well, I'm not new in town, I don't even know it. But I guess you wouldn't understand if I told you where I am from.', you smiled and started walking. Hiccup gave you a confused look when he saw you smiling. 'Not yet.', you said and he started following you.
