I shoo away the raven, it’s scaring me. Waving my hands rapidly around and yelling, “Shoo! Go away!” at it, it swoops off of the branch and soars back into the early morning sky.
I continue my walk to Kacey’s house, walking a bit faster than before; not really sure of what I am so afraid of.
Once I reach the small, forgotten fence, which I use as a land mark to claim Kacey’s house is just behind it, I clamber over it, and land on the other side of it. I trek just a couple more meters through the trees until I see the sidewalk. I poke my head out of the bushes and trees, to make sure no one is walking their dog or something down the side walk. I wouldn’t want to leap out of the trees looking like some kind of hobo woman or just a freak.
It’s clear, so I swiftly hop out of the forest and continue down the side walk of the little cul-de-sac, until I am on the other side of the street. I march up to Kacey’s house, it is the biggest on the street, and really hard to miss considering it two stories, with three garage doors and painted a creamy brown. It has a large willow tree in the front and there is a large balcony overlooking the garage. I remember the first time I saw his house I thought of a palace. Considering I live in a bungalow and his first floor is basically the size of my house.
Once I get closer to the property, I see Kacey step out of the front door, he looks really good today in a baby blue long sleeve shirt, rolled up to his elbows and he has light blue jeans on. “Hey babe!” he calls to me when he see’s me.
“Hey Kase!” I chirp. He makes his way off of his porch and I run up to him and he gives me a big hug, kissing my forehead. I look up at Kacey (he is a head taller than me) and I smile, he smiles back.
We let go of each other and he opens up his car door for me, I hop inside and he shuts my door behind me. He runs around the front of the vehicle, gets in, starts the car, pulls out of the drive way and we are off.
Once we get to school he pulls us into an empty parking spot in the student’s lot. We hop out of his convertible, and meet each other at front of the hood of the engine. He nabs my hand and we walk up to our school, hand in hand.
Our school mascot, Lenny the Lion, is jumping up and down at the front doors, handing out inky flyers, giving information on tomorrow’s football game. Two cheerleaders are pumping their yellow and vibrant orange pompoms in the air beside him, with cheesy fake grins. I roll my eyes, I have never liked cheerleaders, I think that they’re sexist.
As we pass Lenny, he comes up to us and the person inside says, “Good Luck at the game tomorrow Kacey!” Kacey stands a little taller and kinda puffs out his chest a bit, he looks proudly down at me. I can’t help but giggle a bit.
Once we get inside the school, people are already bustling around, trying to rush through the halls packed with people. I personally think that we should just blow up our school and re-build the whole thing over, it’s too small.
Kacey walks me over to my locker and hangs out with me there, his back pressed up against the locker beside mine as he talks with me. I hear some of the girls that pass by us sigh and whisper, “He is sooooo hot!” But Kacey doesn’t seem to notice this.
