Whenever Sam had thought about the Cage, and imagined what it would be like, he hadn't thought of it as a literal cage. In his imagination, it was the deepest part of Hell, so dark, not even the lightning that constantly flashed and raged in the pit could illuminate it. He'd imagined it as an endless void, so deep, not even the devil could escape it. A bottomless prison, the perfect cage.
He'd never been so wrong.

Considering how he'd pictured the Cage, he'd thought the fall would take longer than a blink of an eye. He'd thought of it like in Greek mythology, where the fall into Hell takes nine days. But he miscalculated and when he hit the bottom in less than a second after jumping into the hole, he hadn't been prepared for the rough landing. His limbs  jolted on impact and a choked off cry escaped him as he rolled over his shoulder a little too late, his head banging into the metal walls of the Cage. Dazed, he slumped to the ground, blinking lazily as the world shifted and spun around him. He could feel the ice cold of Lucifer's rage burning through his veins as the fallen angel fought for control.
"No," groaned Sam, trying to shield his mind against the strong attacks. It didn't seem like the fall had hurt the angel at all, while Sam's head hurt like someone was stabbing it rapitidly with daggers. He clutched his head, pulling at his hair. Everything around him seemed to ebb away as the pain in his head worsened and he let out a bloodcurdling scream. He felt like he was being torn apart, cell torn from cell.
"Get out, get out, get out!" He cried as Lucifer continued his mental assault, pounding at the insides of his head with monstrous power.
And then it was over, leaving Sam on the floor, tears brimming in his eyes, gasping for breath like a fish out of water.

He wanted to close his eyes and just breathe for a second, only to realise in horror that he couldn't. When he tried to turn onto his stomach, he came to the same conclusion, his body didn't respond to his commands. And then he did move, only that it wasn't out of his own account. He felt every shift of his muscles and every painful jolt of his bones. If he still had control over his body, he would never have been able to move, not with the pain it brought, but the archangel possessing him seemed to ignore his silent agony, moving until he stood upright, stretching until his joints popped. And it fucking hurt. He wanted to scream at Lucifer to friggin' stop moving, but no sound came out as Sam's lips were pulled into an angry snarl. "I tried being nice, Sammy, I did, but you had to destroy our dynamics, didn't you?" The words sounded wrong from Sam's mouth and Sam fought tooth and nail to regain control, but Lucifer was stronger and andgry.

"I can feel you trying, Sammy, but it's no use. You're hurt, I can feel the agony rolling off of you." The snarl turned into a satisfied smirk and Sam mentally yelled at him to go screw himself. Lucifer chuckled. "Maybe you should rethink what you're saying. After all, I'm in your body."
Sam sighed in defeat, or would have, if it wasn't for the devil controlling his every move, and decided to concentrate on his surroundings. From what he could see, the Cage was a literal Cage, the walls made out of thick iron chains that were linked together. He could see the darkness through the the openings in the wall and and the brief flashes of lightning that lightened up the inside of the Cage. And then he saw Adam, or Michael, lying a few feet away, not moving.

What happened to them? He asked, hoping Lucifer would at least answer the question and leave his brother alone.
"Ah, don't worry about them," the devil replied, waving Sam off with a quick shake of his hand and the man gritted his teeth as the motion worsened the aching in his shoulders. "The Cage wasn't designed to hold Michael and while I was stuck here for millennia, I gave it my own personal touch. Any other angel, even an archangel, can't survive the Cage. I can, I did it since the beginning of time. But, if Michael leaves your brother's vessel, he will freeze over time, slowly wasting away, until only his frozen bones were left. And your brother, well, he'd become a fine little ice sculpture. So, Michael uses all of his little archangelic powers to stay inside your brother and stop his vessel from becoming one of Elsa's ice palace decorations. They're gonna stay like this for eternity, Sammy, unresponding and powerless."
Sam could feel the smile that stretched over his face. "It's just you and me, Bunk Buddy."

Sam tried to sneer at him (himself?) and he hoped Lucifer could feel his hatred. The devil chuckled. "You have no reason to hate me, Sammy, but I do. You locked me up in here again, and I'm gonna make you pay for it. So, instead of glaring daggers at yourself, you should try and appease me, because that's all you'll want to do very soon."
