The Mission

The flight was long and exhausting, fourteen hours goes by incredibly slow. A turtle in a damn turtle race.

Descending with the movement of the escalators I searched for my name on one of the boards being held up. I didn't find it but someone did recognise me I suppose as they tapped me on the shoulder.

I instantly knew he was associated with The Offering by his suit. It was a finely ironed crisp black suit with a black tie that had the signature T.O by the triangle by his neck.

I followed behind him as he led the way out of Cape Town International Airport. He opened the backseat door for my and I hop in silently. The drive to my new home is quiet, I watch as the city passes me by and I'm a little in awe.

I've never been out of the mansion, there's a huge field behind it but somewhere within the woods that surround it are fences. I've never even been far enough to see the fence, I just know from what I've heard that there is one.

Descendants only leave if it is absolutely mandatory for them to, otherwise the large four walls of the mansion are all we know.

So seeing people actually walking, seeing actual shops and for crying out loud smelling nevermind just seeing the ocean has me a little delirious.

When we arrive at the house I'm given a bag and all the man says before driving off is that, "it has everything you need to blend in."

Blend in? I'm not even sure I know how to do that, entering the quiet one storey home, I place the bag on the counter. Looking around the place I see how bare it is, I'd have to go buy furniture. There better be a card in this brown bag because I don't see how I can afford anything.

The living room is to the right of the front door with a corridor up ahead the kitchen to the left and a dining area right before it, opposite the living room.

Opening the bag I'm presented with an identification card, birth certificate, deed to the house, credit cards and other essential items.

Everything is written in my new 'name.'

Alessia Romanov.

Romanov, well that's new. I was never given a last name last week so I hadn't known what it would be. Funny they decided to keep it Russian, I suppose it only made sense seeing as I couldn't hide the clear accent.

Pulling out the final thing in the bag, I'm presented with a brown folder stamped 'confidential'. Opening it I see a picture of a tan male, his skin glistening like honey in the sunshine. A grand smile on his face, dark chocolate eyes and light stubble on his cheekbones. A head full of curls.

The photo looked like one someone he knows would have taken, I wonder for a moment where they got a photo like that from.

'Nathaniel Russo, eldest Russo brother. Followed by Axel, Alexander and Abel Russo who are all his half brothers. Nathaniel only shares a father with his half brothers.

Alexander has found his mate, Elijah Vilakazi, they now have two twin boys. No record of the brothers mates.'

I continued to read the information on the wolves and their families, I quickly grow tired of reading. Feeling as though all that I'm being presented with is a damn family tree. It branched so far it even told me of Elijah's sister, Elisha, who is mated to some other wolf named Nicholas.

Alexander was the Alpha of some Pack, making Elijah his Luna. That Nathaniel wolf has his own Pack which confused me. If he's the first born should he not be the Alpha of his father's pack? Clearly he wanted to be an alpha since he started his on pack so why not take over his fathers?
