Unknown: Yo Ashanti, it was amazing meeting you tonight. Those dance moves got me feeling a type of way, ma.

I picked up my phone and my heartbeat tripled. Who the hell is texting me at 2 am, I thought. I should have deleted the text message but my fingers had other ideas.

Maddie: It's Maddie, not Ashanti. You may have the wrong number.

Unknown: Shit. She must have given me the wrong number. I'm sorry to have bothered you. Could you delete this text please?

I bit my lip. Once again, I should have deleted the text,  but it was 2 am. I was lonely. Where was the harm with a little fun.

Maddie: I'm sorry that she stood you up. Sounds like you two had fun before.

Unknown: Yeah. She left me harder damn than steel.

I bursted out laughing.

Unknown: Oh shit. Why did I text you that. I don't even know you and I'm opening up. I'm Felix by the way.

Maddie: Hey Felix. I'm Maddie.

Felix: Nice to meet you Maddie. Waz you doin up at 2?

I looked across at the pale naked butt sticking up in the air. It was attached to my hook up for tonight. A handsome college student named Brad. He had perfect hair, a scruffy beard and abs. My type. A dangerous one in that too. I sighed and typed.

Maddie: Making bad decisions. Some people aren't what you think they are. Wbu?

I got up from the bed and used my cell phone as a flashlight to search for my clothes. After putting on my panties and bra, my phone vibrated again.

Felix: I just got back from da club. I thought I got the digits of my dance partner for the last hour, but I guess she gave me a fake number.

Maddie: You didn't check her number before you left?

Felix: What do mean?

Maddie: You should have called her right in front of her. Whenever I give out my number to a guy, we call each other. That way you know if  the number is working.

Felix: Shit. I didn't think of that. I'm going to do that next time. I'm sorry about your night. I guess we are in the same boat with disappointing nights.

Maddie: That's an understatement of the year.
I placed my phone down and continued to put the rest of my clothes on. After slipping on my  black cocktail dress, I grabbed my heels and looked back at the guy, I spent the night with. I thought about leaving him a note or something, telling him I left, but honestly leaving like this was the best. It was a stupid decision to sleep with him. I could blame it on the Firebird shots, but honestly, I was the one who agreed to go back to his apartment, not the booze.

I sighed and walked barefoot out of his apartment and into the hallway. While most people would be disgusted to walk barefoot in a public space, I was the opposite. I'm a southern gal from Alabama, my feet bare feet are calloused and have touched far worse than carpet. I slowly shut the door and as I exited, I ordered an Uber and walked towards the elevator.

Say what you want about Brad, he clearly has some money. Living in a downtown apartment in Atlanta was not cheap. It was a one bedroom apartment on the twenty-third floor too, so you know the place had to be over $1,500. As I pressed the button for the ground floor, I received another text from Felix.

Felix: Hey, this is crazy to ask, but do you mind if I save your number in my phone? I'm not a creeper or anything.

There was a pause before Felix texted again.

Felix: Shit, I guess that was what a lot of creepers say. I guess, what I've tying to say is I'm a good guy. I'm not lookin for a booty call or sexting. Just a friend.

I rose my eyes brows at the word friend. I  didn't believe him. Most guys I knew, friends had a whole different meaning. Friends means that in the future I want to hook up with you. I walked out of the elevator and when I arrived to the first floor, my uber was waiting for me at the front. After greeting the driver, I picked up the phone and texted him back.

Maddie: Felix listen you sound like a nice guy, but I can't. I'm sorry.

I bit my lip waiting for his reply. I didn't like breaking things off like this, but let's be honest. Texting him back was a bad choice on its own. I knew nothing about him.

Felix: That's cool. I'll delete the text. It was nice meeting you Maddie.

I took a sigh of relief realizing that he's agreeing to drop the whole texting thing.

Maddie: Same. So long Felix.
