I awoke in the North York General Hospital located in Toronto. My vision was blurred so I couldn't make out my surroundings but I knew it was a hospital because of that nauseating hospital smell. As I blinked my eyes a few times, trying to regain my sight, I could see a person figure sitting on a chair next to my bed sleeping soundly. I made that 'uh-hum' sound to try and get his attention but he seemed to be a hard sleeper. I grabbed one of my pillows and tossed it at him. He got up abruptly and looked around confused. I couldn't help but laugh a little. He looked over to me and his chocolate brown eyes went wide in shock. After a moment I started feeling un comfortable and since it seemed this person wasn't going to say anything I felt the obligation to speak first.

" Why are you starring at me like that ?" I asked as kindly as possible.

He then blinked and combed his spiked jet black hair back with his shaking hand." You--The doctor hasn't seen you yet? He doesn't know you're awake..."

" Excuse me?" He looked at me again with those shocked eyes. Clearly he was talking more to him self then he was to me.

" Jolene...you have been in coma for three days."

This time I gave him the look he has been giving me." What do you mean I have been in coma for three days? what happened to me? And who are you ?"

" You don't remember me? Jolene....I'm luke. Luke Goldsworthy."

"I'm sorry. But I don't know any Luke Goldsworthys."

" We went to law school together.."

" I wanted to become a lawyer?" I couldn't believe what I was hearing. It's like i'm hearing about my life for the very first time from a complete stranger who isn't actually a stranger at all. Why can't I remember any of this ?

ignoring my question he replied, " I should get your doctor."

He left me speechless in my now quiet room. All I want is to go home and figure out what happened to me. But then another thought occured to me-- Where is my home? I looked around my room for a clue as to who I am. My eyes stopped on a picture on the end table. It was a photograph of a beautiful women with fierce light brown eyes and shining long light brown hair. Her smile made me smile and it made my insides feel all warm, my fears now instantly washed away. She was pushing a little girl, no more then six, on a swing. She had the same brightening smile as her mother and her tiny dark green eyes were filled with joy. As I focused on the picture I felt like I should remember this memory, but for some reason it felt like my brain was blocking it out.

" I see you found the picture of you and your mother." an older man with grey hair wearing a white hospital jacket walked into my room with a large smile. Luke was right behind him.

" This is me?" Luke sent the doctor worried eyes.

" I heard you are having troubles with your memories. Is that correct?" the doctor asked me.

" Yes."

" Alright, I would like to start off with simple questions. Can you tell me your name ?"

I remember the name Luke had called me and I replied," Jolene."

" That's good. Are you married?" he asked more seriously.

" N....no...I don't...I don't think so." His smile slowly faded and I knew there was something seriously wrong with me.

"Doctor---" I looked at his name tag," Sullivan, what's wrong with me? Why can't I remember anything?"

He ignored my comment." Do you remember what happened to you?" he asked, keeping his voice equal.
