A Long Time Ago...Four Years Ago, Precisely.
▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃"DIAMONTÉ," SHE HAD said, pretty, white teeth blind siding him for a moment when she smiled at him. Micheal couldn't lie, she choked him up for a moment, her beauty atop of her smile blind sided him even as he tried to further study her face. "Diamonté Harper."
Diamonté's name alone would carry a kind of heavy weight in Micheal's, before, during, and maybe even after, as if she'd smashed into the organ caged behind his ribs right then and there, not just his life for one fun night. She was younger than Michael he had learned, absolutely a woman, not a girl. She was brilliant, opinionated and blunt but could also be deeply charming when she wanted to be.
They met at some gala he'd been talked into attending. Becoming the kind of person people would want at a gala like this- rich enough, famous enough- had happened so fast, swept him up so quickly, he wasn't sure what to do with himself. It wasn't an entertainment event and he'd felt bored and, even more so, out of place. But he that was when he saw her, in her own element drinking whatever she had ordered from the bartender.
He had actually said something very stupid that even drove Diamonté to give him the time of her day, a corny pick up line that had her cracking up in the inside.
What Michael said was, "Do you believe in love at first sight?" Really taking it home after that as he sat in the empty bar stool beside her.
She turned to him, her face not really shifting into much of an expression but with the way she was looking at him, she had to have been amused. "I don't think so, no."
Michael hummed before he got up, walked away for just about a few feet and then he was walking back to that same bar stool. And that was when he said, "How 'bout now?"
She laughed, it was loud and obnoxious, and for a second he thought she was about to clown him. But nah, she placed her hand on his shoulder and instead of answering, she breathed through her fit of laughter to say.
"Diamonté," It was then he was blindsided. At that very moment. "Diamonté Harper."
He nodded, a geeked grin splitting down his face because he wasn't gonna lie, he was hype on the low. "Michael B. Jordan." She knew who he was. But she would not make that known at all.
It was her turn to nod then, her body shifting to face him a little bit better. "Okay now let me ask you a question, Michael."
"What?"
"Ain't it a little bit too damn hot in here to be wearing a scarf?"
