Some Time Ago...Four Years Ago, Precisely.

THAT NIGHT SHE'D said something sharp and clever, a challenge in her eyes as she peered at him over her drink and he was done for. He'd managed to say just the right thing back, something equally sharp and clever and suddenly all his nerves and boredom had drifted away. He'd spent the rest of the night feeling like he was inhabiting some idealized version of himself, wanting to stay that way for her forever.

Diamonté didn't give it [sex] up, to his surprise, even as that was a lot of other women intentions when he approached them. Hell, definitely his too.

But there was something completely different about Diamonté to him, and he couldn't believe he concluded that within a few hours of being in her presence.

So with the night in the hands of the two, laughs and maybe one too many drinks being shared, they exchanged numbers.

A week later on a Saturday, she agreed to go on a date with him with the attachment of her address for when he picks her up. He got excited, immediately setting up reservations at one of his favorite restaurants ever in New York.

He anticipated that Saturday the entirety of the week and when it rolled around, nervousness had taken over his demeanor, trying to shake the feeling out of his limbs before he knocked at the of her apartment door.

He told her they didn't have to dress up, just make it like a casual thing, so he wasn't sure why the air was knocked out of him when she answered the door. A simple black jumpsuit and some black platformed black slides.

She was gonna drive him insane, he already knew.

"You ready to go?" He smiled at her, nerves tingling under his skin.

"Mhm," She shut the door behind her and they were off to his car.

It wasn't parked to far from the building, Diamonté going to the passenger side once they made it to open the door.

"Nah, wait a minute, beautiful," He stopped her from grabbing touching the door, Diamonté looking up at him in amused confusion. "Don't ever touch a door while I'm around."

"You serious?" She bursted out laughing, her hand landing on his arm to steady herself from how entertaining it all was. He understood why she would find it so funny, but if it was something she was accustomed to, it wouldn't have been and that's what irritated him a little.

"Deadass." He grinned, grabbing the handle and opening it for her. "Now you can go in, gorgeous."

"So far you an amazing one, not even good, amazing." She stepped in with one leg. "Like larger than life shit."

That made him chuckle a bit when he shut the door closed once she was settled.
